Before I get into my review, I want to make it
abundantly clear I really enjoyed this issue and I've been a huge fan
of NM since for ever and have a full run of the original and the newer
series. I think I even have that miniseries where Illyana got the
legacy virus from her brother. I'm a big fan of Dani and loved that she was co leader in the original run.
That being said, I really wish that Dani would have been put into a coma.
This issue was good, but it was also pretty cliche, in my opinion. None of the fighting tactics really seemed to be that innovative or interesting, except for Magik's slashing personalities out of his mind.
But anyone who didn't see Dani coming back and saving Sam's ass after he publicly embarrassed her has never read a super hero comic published in the last 25 years.
Anyone that didn't see Legion having a power to negate Magma's flames or Bobby getting seriously hurt is not paying attention. The art was surprisingly effective.
I didn't expect to be as creaped out by the demon lady persona as I was, and that's entirely due to the art. It was a good issue, but not an innovative one.

LOVED THAT CREEPY LADY PERSONA! It reminded me of so many cliche’ characters in manga. It made me wonder for a second if there were even mutants that physically mutated (for lack of a better word), then I remembered the morlockes and all was right in my x-verse.
I’ve always wanted to introduce a character with multiple personalities that could shape shift. One of the personalities would be a serial killer, but it would be nigh impossible to prove
Yeah, those kinds of characters bore me because of how one sided the possibilities are. It’s too easy and predictable of a narrative. Maybe if the serial killer couldn’t hold that shape for more than a few minutes that’d be fun to read otherwise meh…
