Out of all the New Mutants issues of this crossover, New Mutants #14 is the best. Zeb Wells has written a great story and the multiple art styles goes nicely with the storyline. From the beginning, middle, to the end, I was entertained all the way through. The ending especially got me excited. All in all I'm satisfied. However this time I am not a fan of Adi Granov's cover art. First of all this is a very generic cover of two mutants posing together. Secondly Rogue looks like she got a really bad case of Botulinum toxin on her face or plastic surgery. Lastly from this picture, Rogue and Hope look like they are wearing X-Force uniforms. It would have been better if some green was added to their uniforms.
Now is the chapter eleven summary portion of the review. The beginning of this book has Charles Xavier entering Legion's mind. Legion believes that he is not supposed to leave his room, but Xavier tells him that he is not a prisoner. Xavier plans on gathering all the dangerous identities Legion has. Outside of the Utopia facilities, Cyclops rallies the remaining mutants and asks them to fight for the survival of their species. Also he proclaims that all of them are now considered X-Men. Inside a room, Rogue approaches a crying Hope. She tells Rogue that she and Cable saw a lot of war and sometimes she would get hurt. Cable did not mind her crying at all, but he did give her a rule, that is to win first and then cry later. Unable to stand around and let people die on her behalf, Hope tells Rogue to fight along her side.
With combined efforts, Sunspot, Boom Boom, Husk, and Avalanche are able to take out one Nimrod in a tunnel under Utopia, but more arrive. At the Golden Gate Bridge, Namor, Colossus, Rockslide, Magma, and Dust are fending off the Nimrods. Colossus has one of his arms injured by a Nimrod during the fight. Before Colossus is about to meet his demise, Xavier and Legion arrive in a helicopter to save him. Legion uses a destructive sonic type power which the Nimrods later adapt to. Then he switches off to a power that belches an acidic substance. Just when Colossus calls Cyclops for assistance, Cyclops immediately arrives with a group of X-Men consisting of Surge, Iceman, Psylocke, Storm, Gentle, and Armor.
In the future, Cypher uses his language skills to talk to the machines and X-Force makes their way into the Master Mold facility. They find out that there are actually two Master Molds and only one is sending the Nimrods to the past.
Back at Utopia, Scalphunter, Sack, Random, and Litterbug decide to join the fight against the Nimrods, but Toad tells them not to go because they are safe on Utopia. Right away Toad's finger disintegrates from a Nimrod's energy beam which also cuts off Sack's head. Meanwhile in the infirmary, Beast tends Hellion as Nimrods enter Utopia. A weaken state Magneto tells Beast to watch the injured while he deals with their enemies.

There were actually three different artists on this book. They did a great job of matching up artists with the three different settings (present, future, and Legion’s mind).
Thanks Mr. Stone for pointing out an error. This review will be edited.
No worries. Totally not your fault, as I’m pretty sure they only mentioned Roberson in the solicits.
I’m in total agreement with your review, though. This issue was one of the best, so far, in the crossover.
Honestly I was really close into giving the story a 5. The reason I gave it a 4 is only because this story felt like it would have been told in a Uncanny X-Men or a X-Men Legacy issue not a New Mutants book. Yes Legion took the spotlight and a few members of the New Mutants crew took part in the battle (Sunspot & Magma), but the other New Mutant members did not receive any sort of treatment in the storyline.
I loved this issues. "I don’t know old man. I’m starting to worry about the other one" Awesome. I don’t know if you notice this. But the helicopter Xavier used to drop of Legion had a few missiles and an impressive firing gun. I say let’s use those to shoot down some Nimrods. Great issue loved the art. Loved the rallying that is going on despite the fact it’s coming to an end. You know what’s great. This event is longer then Blackest Night but it doesn’t feel long. I read Blackest night from begging to end in one sitting. It dragged. I just got down reading Second Coming from the 1st to this one. Never lost a beat.
@xmanryan: To be fair, most of the New Mutants crew are busy in the Hellbound book with…ugh…Pixie and….also ugh…Gambpocalypse.
Extra points for naming all the mutants. I got a good 85% of them, but it didn’t seem worth tracking them all down. The Sentinels were just going to kill them in a second anyway.
