When I picked-up issue one of Viva Las Vegas, I wasn't all that impressed. Sure, Favreau the director is writing it proving that he knows what he's selling, and the art is really impressive, but I was left unsatisfied like my date on prom night.
Fast forward to this week, and I decided to give issue two a try seeing how it's only a four-issue mini. After reading issue two, I'm completely hooked.
With Favreau at the helm, fans of the movie are getting the Tony Stark that they know and love, with beautiful art by Granov. Taking place in Vegas, Stark is suppose to be on relaxing while on vacation, but of course we all know that would make for a boring story. Add a damsel in distress into the mix, and Tony manages to find room in his schedule for a little action (and not that kind of action, you perv (well, not yet anyway)).
A new casino is opening in Vegas, The Golden Dragon, and the gigantic metal statue outside suddenly comes to life, revealing this is no ordinary statue; it's none other than the famous Fin Fang Foom, and he's looking to do some rampaging! What a twist!
One of the main reasons I'm enjoying this book is simple; it's a Marvel Knights title, keeping within it's own universe. Tony isn't apart of the Avengers, S.H.E.I.L.D., or any other kind of nonsense. If he's going to take care of this problem, it's all up to Iron Man and no one else.
I cannot wait for issue three to come out, because it's Fin Fang Foom vs Iron Man, and it seems that anything is possible!
