Had a light week and figured I'd try something new. I kinda wish I hadn't. This book looks pretty good, but I'm not sure about the story they're telling. Well, I'm not really sure I'd even call it a story yet. Jumping from main-character-origin to main-character's-brother's-origin to the-origin-of-two-cosmetic-scientists-who-turned-all-the-women-in-the-world-into-zombies, this feels more like an illustrated book of notes than an introduction to a world. I mean, I know that the main girl (at least I'm assuming she's the main girl) is a cigarette smoking orphan with a Ramones t-shirt, and I know that her brother is a handsome underaged murderer, but I definitely don't know what any of that has to do with man-eating zombies or cosmetic companies. And there's no teaser-y connective thread to keep me wondering. In the end, I kinda felt like the preview solicit was more enticing and enlightening than the book itself. I'm sure this will get more cohesive, if not more interesting, as it goes, but I doubt I'll stick around to find out.
