Nice show gents.
I’m curious, either of you have a chance to read Tom King’s and Andy Kubert’s “Walmart” Superman story that dropped this week?
I don’t believe that there is a Wal-Mart within the city limits of Los Angeles.
You could make the 6 and 1/2 hour drive up to Sacramento. We’ve got 5 Walmart’s to choose from. 😉
DC will either collect and/or distribute it later outside of Wal-Mart… or they won’t. If not, there’s plenty to read otherwise.
Interesting stats on the Patron Pick. Personally I don’t vote for issue #1s. I want to hear ifanboy’s thoughts jumping on established series, especially when jumping in the middle of a series. Patron Pick I remember most is your joy about a random issue of Thanos. Based on that enthusiasm I’ve got it on my Marvel Unlimited queue to read the series.
That was a great pick.
Just read Murder Falcon 1 because of your review and wow. I’m in. The plot would’ve normally qualified this as a hard pass from me but… wow. That was… really good.
Check out Exetremity. Daniel Warren Johnson is way underrated
I haven’t been reading Catwoman, but I came across this and though it was a little interesting! https://i.redd.it/5neby4ce5or11.jpg
Wasn’t it Amazing Spider-Man #7 that just came out this week? Also, what happened to the Kraven reveal in issue #5 (I think?) ?
I feel like I’m going crazy. Kraven appeared and then nothing ever came of it. Did I miss an issue?
…glut of “comic book” movies?
you guys, of course mean “super-hero” movies, common mistake, I make it myself all the time.
It does point to a reason, however, for your other error from the podcast (which, I guess, is my new pet peeve that I’m stuck posting about ever month) that the “comic book market is shrinking”.
You, of course, also meant the “comic book shop” market is shrinking. And since that market is dominated by super heroes…
The book market (graphic novels) and digital (web comics of all types(webtoons, etc.), not comixology) are growing:
Raina Telgemeier’s new book “Guts” was recently announced with a 1 million book first print run:
Dav Pilkey’s “Dog Man”…3 million print run and selling.
What you guys keep referring to when you speak about capital “C” comic books (i.e. kinda things reviewed on your podcast), are now just a part of the total overall comic book market (especially when looking at units sold).
The comic book market isn’t shrinking, per se, it’s changing.
Anyone who has listened to our show for 13 years now knows what we are and what we aren’t talking about.
I say it for the children… the children! ^.. ^
Also…READ “SABRINA” BY NICK DRNASO
(excited yelling, not angry yelling.)
Since you balked at “My Favorite Thing is Monsters”…you could at least try to eat some vegetables…delicious vegetables…Yum. Murder mystery with a dash of paranoia and social insight.
and remember to floss.
SABRINA is sitting on my nightstand at the moment.
Oh. Very good. I hope you enjoy it. Not a mainstream book so don’t expect a mainstream ending. Love the colors on it.
