   Mike Carey has quietly been doing a great job about exploring Japanese myths and modern culture through this book.  I’m just afraid it might too quietly and Crossing Midnight ends up getting cancelled.  Anyone who is interested in the book should know that it is in the same tone as the classic 80’s movie Labyrinth but with less Bowie bulge and hokieness.  If you did like this book you might want to check out the movie the Great Yokai War.  It is less serious, but shows off a lot of the different spirits (Yokai) in Japanese myths.  It’s really fun movie.
