SWF Seeks SG(eek)M at NYCC

Are you a single guy? Are you going to be in the New York Metro area this weekend? Well, you’re in luck, sir! iFanboy’s newest employee, Sy The Intern, is single and looking for love at the New York Comic Con!

Check out her story and please digg her blog post!

We are (mostly) benevolent bosses. We like our interns to be happy. A happy intern is a productive intern. A productive intern gets my lunch quicker and with a hop in their step.

Here’s a snippet from her blog:

But really, Comic Book Conventions should be a great place to meet guys. We’re talking about a virtually untapped market. In theory: for a smart, (somewhat) attractive girl, getting a date should be like shooting fish in a barrel, no? Thousands of men are gathered in one place (granted, some of them are taken; some are gay; some, undoubtedly, live in their mothers’ basements) with a very small proportion of available women around. The statistics alone would lead us to believe there have got to be a few good men in this crowd.

  1. Oh, this could be a disaster. Is this benevolence or schadenfreude? While “The statistics alone would lead us to believe there have got to be a few good men in this crowd”, I think they would also lead us to believe that to find the good men, you would have to wade through a cavalcade of not-so-good men. And some downright distasteful ones.

Crowd control is going to be your other major issue. There will be no shortage of candidates. You should hire another intern for the weekend just to operate the cattle-prod.

Good luck, Sy, I hope it works out for you.

  2. wow.
part of me says: “NO! GET OUT NOW!”
but part of me says..(puts on Barry White voice)..”Heyyyyy. How youuuu doin’?”

i hope to god there’s a video podcast of this!

stupid NY Con, being sold out on saturday.
    *grumble*

  3. I see I was not the only one who was single this Valentines Day, sigh

  4. Good god woman…please be careful…

  5. It’s dugg. This should be hysterical and I second the notion of a video podcast of this.

Just out of curiosity, what does an Ifanboy intern do?

  6. I am still deciding whether I approve or not…

Not that my weight (as an intern) means anything around this place.

  7. Sy, I wish you the best of luck.. 😉 I’m still trying to figure out how to find the guy who doesn’t get shocked or gives me a dumbfounded look when I say the word “comic books”… Grant it, i’ve stopped looking… One heartbreak too many.. I’m done…

  8. I agree with JGG. What DO ifanboy interns do? And how many of them are there?

And seriously, what do they do? Aren’t there three ifanboys?

  9. Gordon: Don’t be alarmed, join Sy, and form a union: “The International Brother and Sisterhood of IFanboy Internists.” If you both pay dues, your operating budget should exceed the total iFanboy operating budget.

    As to the question:
“I agree with JGG. What DO ifanboy interns do? And how many of them are there?”

    Answer:
Consult your Websters, second entry for the word, “conceit” :

conceit |k?n?s?t| noun (2) a fanciful expression in writing or speech; an elaborate metaphor : the idea of the wind’s singing is a prime romantic conceit.
