Green Lantern Movie Website All Whooshy and Glowy

If the Glo-Balls snack cakes weren't enough to get the flames of your excitment for Hal Jordan's silver screen debut next year, how about the movie teaser site that's gone live at greenlantern.com?  There's not a hell of a lot there but there is a whooshy, glowy GL symbol, and you can leave it on in the background all day and feel just a bit like Abin Sur is following you around.

I note that it's the classic symbol that we've gotten so used to (and tattooed on our arms) as opposed to the more recent stylized version.

Also, as a sidenote, if you just type in greenlanternmovie.com, you'll go to a page for their Green Lantern: First Flight animated film, which I'm sure they're hoping to move a few more copies of if the Ryan Reynolds version takes off.

UPDATE:

Superherohype.com reports that the source code of this apparently informationless website says the following:

GREEN LANTERN – In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries.  Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps.  A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers.  But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

So… Parallax.

Comments

  1. It sounds like there are lightsaber noises in the background. (That is perhaps the nerist thing I’ve ever said.)

  2. It’s pretty cool. I still demand — DEMAND — a teaser trailer.

  3. OH MY GOD IT’S REALLY HAPPENNING!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  4. Not true…Wonder Woman was chosen.

  5. I’m a little tired of the marketing already, hey

  6. Parallax is supposed to be the villain too, How awesome would it be if they get like a trilogy going on with the 2nd movie about the SInestro Corps War & the 3rd about Blackest Night, that would be so unbelievably EPIC!!!

  7. flop… ok ok. it won’t be a flop… but there’s too much… stuff to incorporate. As usual the general public will love it leaving actual green lanturn fans with a very shallow and probably inaccurate movie. Like they did with my spider-man movies. *sigh* *fingers crossed for reboot!*

  8. @oopsxlandmine: That is an excellent parody of an overly reactionary comic book fan.

  9. @conor: For realsies.

  10. The reboot will be awful. Wait for the reboot of the reboot. By the time they reboot that, the film might be approaching watchable.

  11. If you really want to get excited for this movie, watch the YouTube clip of Ryan Reynolds reciting the oath.

  12. insert obligatory complaint about costumes and still frame shots
