Alright, so you got me. I don’t really care all that much about comics this week. I think the only reason I went to the store was to get my mind off how shitty I was feeling. But the truth is, if you want to talk about a pick, this is the only pick this week which mattered to me.

What hurt most about it was that I placed all sorts of hope into something which I had very little control over. But I think that it will strengthen us in the future. We’ll learn from mistakes, and next time, I’ll put more into it. I’m proud of the America who learned what was going on and tried their damnedest to get others to understand, to stop fearing and to accept every one.

It’s funny, because the comics community is very much a microcosm of the larger political community in this country. Every person who complains about a political agenda in their entertainment, or that people are changing things that shouldn’t be changed, just because of tradition reminds me of the kind of thinking I don’t subscribe to. They remind me that there’s a lot of work left to do if I want to help build the world I want to live in. But, at the same time, they have every right to their opinion as I do mine, and apparently, there are more of them out there than there are of me. I’m not surprised, but I am saddened.

In closing, I am thankful George W. Bush has no superheroes at his command.

Back next week with comics and cheer. You can talk comics in the space below still.
