January 13, 2011 4:30 pm Nice review. I agree - The lack of love for this issue and arc is surprising.  You have to assume that it suffers from being compared to Morrison's run before it.  It's tough to compete with an all-time great run.
I thought Cornell, McDaniel, et al put together an excellent and memorable little story here.
February 23, 2009 6:34 pm a cool thing about the Conan comic is there isn't a ton of continuity to worry about. Of course there are story points that carry over a bit, but you really don't need to know them to enjoy any given arc.  I actually think I'm going to drop the monthly book starting  now and start reading the trades instead... just seems like I'd enjoy these grand tales more in bigger "chunks."
February 5, 2009 11:11 am Russell's art in this miniseries was absolutely stunning.
January 7, 2009 4:11 pm I'm sure he isn't everyone's cup of tea but I've really enjoyed Leonardo Manco on Hellblazer this year

January 7, 2009 10:35 am GA/BC #8 is the one that stands out in my mind when I think of his cover run.  So iconic and with a really great design sense.  I'm probably alone in actually preferring Chiang's covers to his interiors (but just barely...)
January 7, 2009 9:52 am great list. I'd nominate Cliff Chang's Green Arrow/Black Canary covers too.
December 29, 2008 9:59 am Thanks for the "You Look Nice Today" podcast recommendation, Ron. Very funny stuff.
November 17, 2008 8:42 pm Yeah, KZA- that's true.  As much as I enjoyed last week special, I could have done without the extras.  I'm not the biggest Alex Ross guy in the world though...
November 17, 2008 8:28 pm hmmm.... Maybe its just me, but I would actually prefer to get 48 page 3.99 monthlies over 32 page 2.99 monthlies.  It is true that I would buy fewer titles this way, but 48 pages actually has a bit of meat to it.  A month is a long time to wait for another piece of the story, and with 48 pages the wait seems almost worth it to me.  But jeez, comics are expensive - even 2.99 is expensive.   Yet every Wednesday...
