October 29, 2012 1:00 pm I liked Prez too. Just teasing Ed. We talked more about it and Lou Stathis in one of our earliest chats. It's kind of similar to how I tease Bendis and Mack about FLAXEN for Calibre
October 1, 2012 6:10 pm Josh talking POTA films/cannon with Gabe sounds like I do talking about The X-Men with x-writers . Still great talkand an awesome series of Ape books from Corrina & Gabe
August 15, 2012 4:23 pm and because each of these films (FF Wolverine X-Men & Spider-Man) have generated hundreds of millions in profit . That means getting FF Wolverine or the x-men might cost hundreds of millions to get back if it's a straight cash deal. Spider-man is on it's way to generating 2 billion over 4 films. You think Sony would currently part with Spidey for less than a Billion?
August 9, 2012 12:35 pm "Superman’s Girlfriend Lois Lane Archives Vol. 1: This 10-issue collection is the easiest and the only Lois Lane collection out there" The superman family Showcase Volumes Vol 1-3 have early jimmy olsen & Lois Lane issues collected
July 10, 2012 4:23 pm I truly appreciate wanting more REAL information and discussion about where the comics biz is headed Mike, but to expect that from the big 2's panels at san diego is setting yourself up for a big let down. This is like the auto show for comics. Ford and GM aren't going to have serious talks about where the auto industry is going in the next 10 years at THE AUTO SHOW. Also I see Marvel Now as just a clever title but really the creative changes and new books are about what we got in the early 2000s, with no real reboot. The post AvX titles are like what we got coming out of events like avengers disassembled and civil war . As for the cooks (Marvel) letting the customers in on their digital plans...does anyone have a handle on what is the best way to create stories and get new readers via the digital format? This is still the new frontier, and they are all still walking that new reader-wed warrior tightrope , in terms of making digital comics. If you want "serious discussion" panels, they do still happen at SDCC, but not during the typical hype panels you're describing. That's not going to change.
June 26, 2012 4:44 pm count me among those who think the original sentry concept and mini was a good idea and a well executed story.
June 3, 2012 12:08 am thanks folks part 2 with greg is great too, and will be along side a new talk with the great dave gibbons
June 2, 2012 12:11 am Morrison's call that Alan Scott's uniform is "gay" is one point of super gods that I find a bit disingenuous and frankly a bit insulting to the creators of the 40's who were just making heroes based on film and pulp influences of that specific era. Super-Heroes were mostly known as "Costumed Heroes" (hear Will Eisner describe what Busy Arnold wanted The Spirit to be) , and in the era of such period hero films as Zorro, Robin Hood & Captain Blood , it wasn't far fetched to put masked heroes in similar costumes. Just like the tights other heroes wore came from circus acrobats and strongman uniforms. I agree the look may seem silly looking today, but it's no different than films like The Terminator or Robocop influencing the comics of that era.
June 1, 2012 6:20 pm Josh & Conor are correct, it does play into the actual origin of alan scott's GL. It is unfortunate that a flaming visual is being used to promote a newly turned gay hero, but that underlines the clumsiness of how this is all playing out.
