June 4, 2012 12:32 pm As a reader of the books, many of the criticisms in this article apply to the books as well. There is a lot of meandering and there have been major events that took place "off camera" and were then told to the POV character. And some of the wandering around not accomplishing anything is a critique for the books as well. In other words, they are not perfect and HBO is doing a pretty impressive job being accurate to the source material. FWIW, I like the books and the show quite a bit, but they are definitely not perfect.

December 3, 2010 3:44 pm FWIW, the knife in Baltimore is a Nepalese blade called a kukri.  It is very heavy and the blade is on the inner part of the curve (unlike a scimitar).  It is quite useful, since it can be used like a machete or scythe in agriculture or as a good weapon to pry open mechanical sea creatures (which are not a big threat in Nepal).

December 4, 2009 11:46 am I don't understand why Doc Ock introduces the vehicle from outside.  Isn't the point of a vehicle to provide protection?  How embarassing for Doc Ock when Spidey kicks his butt while his vehicle idles nearby.
