December 21, 2012 4:03 pm Last year I bought Hilda and the Midnight Giant as a Christmas present for my non-comic reading girlfriend. She loved it, and even asked me to get her Hildafolk for some more Hilda goodness. This year it's Hilda and the Bird Parade wrapped up and sitting under the Christmas tree (shushhhhh! Don't tell her.), I hope it lives up to its predecessors quality. Both The Mountain Giant and Bird Parade are handsome large size hardcovers that sit nicely alongside Drawn and Quarterly's Complete Moomin comic strips, with which Luke Pearson's work is reminiscent.
November 8, 2012 7:11 pm Now, that's a shame.
October 16, 2012 10:15 am Oh, I forgot Agent Liberty!
October 16, 2012 10:15 am Compared to the mid-90's (post Bwahahah, pre Morrison's "Big 7") League, the Detroit League (Vibe included) looks like a purple patch. If you count members of Justice League Task Force and Extreme Justice you get: Triumph Bloodwynd Maxima Maya Amazing Man Icemaiden II L-Ron/Despero Mystek The Wonder Twins Yazz Horrible, just horrible! Let's pretend the 90's didn't happen.
October 15, 2012 9:06 pm I don't think the Legion of Superheroes is in danger of going anywhere. I reckon that part of the deal that saw Paul Levitz step down as President and Publisher of DC Comics, was that he could do a Legion book for as long as he wanted. I have no proof of this, just a hunch.
October 6, 2012 12:07 pm These are non-continuity stories.
September 25, 2012 9:53 am Great to see Death's Head. I remember his first appearance in the UK Transformers comic, and wasn't sure what to make of him, he seamed out of place. It was only when he appeared in Dragon's Claws that I began to like the character. It's also a sense of pride that he was a Marvel UK character who made a name for himself across the pond.
September 24, 2012 2:36 pm As a lifelong comics reader who spent a not insignificant amount of his hard earned on DC comics, the New 52 reboot gave me an escape route out of the continuity hell I had found myself in. It should be noted that the reboot occurred in conjunction with a change in my life, both financial and relationship. So, I can't say for certain that I would have dropped so many titles without the strain on my wallet and time. That being said, I'm pretty sure that DC's reboot has resulted in me buying less of their titles. I'm sure there will be Marvel readers who will do the same.
September 20, 2012 7:44 am Already been done in Ultimate Fantastic Four.
September 17, 2012 5:45 pm Just re-read Ultimate Six. A lot of talking, and goes nowhere fast. I didn't have a problem with the art though.
