If you read just this issue of Chew you’d think it was a silly comic. I guess a comic involving…

What a strange issue. It’s so strange I have to do a review on it. Honestly, I don’t think Paul…

Now that’s more like it! Last week had this series suffer from some really poor art from, shockingly, a Kubert….

August 29, 2013 9:18 pm @Ken: I knew he was mutated into this form but, like new Iron Man armor, artists don't do anything to make it uniform. It looks like Deodato literally found an image of a Gorilla and did a 'Greg Land' by tracing it onto the panel.
August 29, 2013 9:15 pm Apart from Lincoln I can't recall any other movies I've seen with Spader in it. So I honestly can't say if this is ultimately going to be a good choice or not.. But I trust in Whedon and I'm sure this is going to work in the end. Besides, his voice is probably going to be modulated enough where it'll be hard to tell if it's him or not. I'm more excited to see what Ultron is going to look like in this movie.
August 29, 2013 9:14 pm Hmm....This is tough so I can't say this is in any particular order: The Wake Daredevil Deadpool Avengers/New Avengers (I'm putting this as a tie only because, as a whole, they work well together. Plus Infinity is making it a strong case for both) The Manhattan Projects
August 29, 2013 9:09 pm It feels like this is someone reliving a Vietnam flashback. I'm guessing the next panel is Lana trying to make Clark stop crying.
August 28, 2013 11:27 pm For some reason I had a hard time following the narrative in this. I didn't have this issue the last two months, but having two of the same character got me guessing who was who from panel to panel. Especially when it came to the narration. I agree the flashbacks were really the highlight though with a nice, somewhat new take on Clark and Bruce meeting for the first time. Lee and Cinar don't really work together but the change in art made sense plot wise and what was here was pretty good. It really wasn't close to being POTW but I get what made you love it josh and it was a great review. My POTW was Deadpool #15 because Declan Shalvey and Jordie Bellaire kicked some major ass. I hope it's discussed on the podcast because it is probably their best work to date.
August 28, 2013 11:13 pm Good lord, this was absolutely amazing. The moment I saw that two page spread of Wade Wilson being released into the 'rejected' pile made me realize this was gonna be special. By far this was the best issue Declan Shalvey and Jordie Bellaire have ever done (whether in general or together). An absolutely gorgeous book and there are just way too many highlights to mention. But I also love how toned down the humor was for this first issue. There's some funny quips and images but for the most part it's a straight-forward plot. Very impressive to show that Duggan and Posehn can tone this down without much issue and still make it entertaining. For my money, this was a great first issue to an arc and I think it has a chance to be 'Best Single Issue' of the year. Or at least a very strong contender. 5/5 (POTW)
August 28, 2013 11:10 pm Well, Hickman is now 3/3 when it comes to INFINITY. Great issue and I'm so engrossed in this story. Loved the twist involving Namor, the fact that Thanos is (once again) trying to get the Infinity Gems, and Hickman does a good job making this new threat with 'The Black Order' formidable. Of course, Black Dwarf had no chance against Black Panther and it was funny we didn't get to see that beatdown. The art by Deodato was a bit rough in some places and models were a bit off. McCoy looked like an ape in some panels. But for the most part it was pretty good and it's an improvement from last month. So yeah, INFINITY is really turning into a fantastic event; tie-ins and all. 4.5/5
August 28, 2013 11:07 pm This was a lot of fun! All of the shorts had some really good stories and the art in all of them were really good. Declan Shalvey bookcases them and boy it makes me excited to see more of his take on Batman. We get, probably, one last Burnham art on Batman INC and his story was much better this time around for Jiro. There was a good Squire story and also the Native American Batman's. I hope we get more of these guys somehow in the future of Batman books cause it reminds me how many great supporting characters Morrison put into this run. Oh and Dan Didio and Ethan Van Sciver wins with a fantastic Bat-Cow story. That alone makes this a must buy anthology. 4/5
August 28, 2013 11:04 pm Basically you replace Tiny Titans with Hellboy characters and you got the same comic. But that means this was super cute and funny at the same time. I love Hellboy crushing everyone with that huge cardboard box. I totally recommend this to kids who want to get into Hellboy but may not be at the right age to read the main series yet. What troubled me though was the back cover ad of PAYDAY 2: THE HEIST that showcases guns and creepy masks on this. Someone at Dark Horse clearly didn't think this was inappropriate for a kid's book and that really shocked me. 4/5
August 28, 2013 11:02 pm The art was a bit spotty at times and it was bumming me out. But then you get to the epic pages involving Topo and all of it made sense. Not saying that justifies some rough art beforehand but it's hard to not be impressed by Pelletier/Parsons pages involving a giant fucking octopus. The final two pages was a great twist by Johns and damn if it didn't make me surprised for a change. Looking forward to see how this is gonna affect Arthur and also we get to see that epic mane back! 3/5
