May 25, 2012 3:14 pm I hate to say this but this issue was miles beyond Simonson's issue of AvX. It that really sloppy, and even for the amount of wideshots and cartoonish elements didn't read clearly. Land absolutely photo references too much, and his characters (facial expressions in particular) are indistinct, but he still composes beautiful pages. That said I'd be happy to see a regular penciler take his place who can give Uncanny a little more life. The Extinction team needs any help they can get on being sympathetic, and Land doesn't help in that regard. Loving Gillen's continues characterization of Namor though, and glad to see Hepzipah back. (What ever happened with her and Warpath by the way? )
May 25, 2012 3:09 pm Yea, but it being a BKV cliffhanger we can expect that the reveal will be more interesting than that. And given the circumstance that our group have found themselves in, any internal strife is sure to make the journey that much more interesting a read. Bonds being tested, and what not, seems an honest portrayal of young parents.
May 25, 2012 3:04 pm I'm willing to run with the Captain Marvel rebirth, in part because I don't think it will stick. This is the kind of thing Remender writes well. Like some of his recent android stories in Secret Avengers, much of his work in X-Force, and basically all of Fear Agent, what we have is an implicit questioning of what makes someone "authentically" human, or for that matter authentically who they are. We know Ms. Marvel is going to take on the mantel of Captain Marvel herself, so bringing back Mar-Vel for this story seems like an appropriate way to set the stage for her. And it opens up an interesting angle on the Phoenix as the Kree on Hala are welcoming the Force, much as the X-Men are. It strikes me that modern Avengers writers are really fascinated with the old Avengers Kree-Skrull War stories, and mining them for inspiration might not be a bad idea in this case. I also agree that the art is excellent and suits Remender's voice well.
May 25, 2011 2:28 am Read the whole run when it was in serial, and enjoyed it.  Should be fun to read it again straight through, glad they published this.  Hopefully we'll see some new BKV before 2012, but I doubt it....
May 19, 2011 10:27 pm @WheelHands  X-Factor has been consistently good since PAD's Maddrox mini series.  Also, I've enjoyed al of Carey's run on Legacy.
