March 14, 2013 3:21 am "This one's not for the kids." And not for me either. I really did not like the first film (or the first mini-series except for the amazing John Romita Jr artwork, which was truly fantastic and made me wish he had done it with a writer who was not Millar) and this just seems like everything I disliked amped up even more. I don't mind violence, but the first film was just so long and pointless and unsatisfying on every level. But I am sure if someone liked part one then this looks like a great trailer to them.
March 4, 2013 10:25 am My mp3 player was playing this podcast like it was recorded on fast forward. The media player on my pc played it the normal way.
March 2, 2013 10:11 am For some reason my mp3 player wasn't playing this correctly. First time that ever happened. Did you change anything from the way you recorded the previous podcasts?
February 21, 2013 3:35 pm Great. Finally a Superman book to get excited about. Jae Lee is such a great artist so no doubt this will be just beautiful to look at. I am sure he's gonna do some fantastic things with Batman (judging by the preview pic here he is going crazy with the cape as well as he should be) and he might be able do draw Superman in a new and unique way. Can I please get Kelley Jones as a fill-in artist?
February 18, 2013 3:53 pm This has nothing to do with somebody having an "opposing opinion". It's about the actions a hateful bigot is taking towards discriminating people and taking away their human rights. That is neither "having an opposing opinion" nor is it "a creator trying his best". It's somebody trying his worst.
February 18, 2013 1:48 pm OSC wants to take away the few human rights that I have and calls me a genetic freak so of course I don't want him to be employed by DC. I hope the same thing that happens to Mel Gibson is gonna happen to him. "You don't want to be discriminated, so you shouldn't discriminate against hateful bigots" is not something I agree with. I don't even have to think about this. DC should fire him and the "ender's game" movie should never happen. If he would discriminate any other "minority" as openly and as strongly as he does and work towards taking away their human rights there wouldn't even be a discussion about whether he SHOULD be fired or not. That discussion would be about HOW FAST he's gonna get fired. That being said, I read his "abyss" novelization when I was a child and it's really good, much better than the film. I acknowledge that he is a talented writer. I also acknowledge that he's a hateful bigot working on putting me back in the closet or jail so I "kinda" think that is the more important thing.
February 8, 2013 3:55 pm My reply to jpriester73: I don't think it's wrong to express your religious views. I couldn't care less about what kind of religion people have. That being said, you say OSC is neither hateful nor a homophobe and that is just plain wrong. Let's start... When Massachussetts and California finally recognized same-sex marriage OSC called it "the end of democracy in America" and therefore he advocates taking down our government “by whatever means is made possible or necessary." He also says that gay people have “sex-role dysfunctions,” and that they are “tragic genetic mix-ups”. All this is from one essay that OSC wrote for mormontimes.com, appearantly they decided to delete or move it by now, otherwise I could give you the link. But if you google his quotes I am sure you will find working links. Here's a little "gem" from wikipedia: In 1990 Card called for laws that ban gay sex to "remain on the books... to be used when necessary to send a clear message that those who flagrantly violate society's regulation of sexual behavior cannot be permitted to remain as acceptable, equal citizens within that society" So, no I don't think he's a "pretty nice guy" like you clain. Him being mormon has nothing to do with the fact that he is obviously a despicable nutbag. I really have no energy to post further examples of Orson Scott Card's homophobia here (that's frigging exhausting and depressing) but your comment couldn't be left unanswered. It's sad that I seem to be the only one who cares.
February 7, 2013 9:52 am I left a comment here about how much of an outspoken hateful homophobe Orson Scott Card is, but that coment didn't get approved. I'd like to know the reason for that.
January 25, 2013 10:29 am So if I don't watch this that means that my favorite podcast will stay just the way it was for all eternity, right? But seriously, good luck with your new career, Ron! I am curious how the new and remaining ifanboys will work out on the podcast. It is always a very nice weekly companion on my way to work. So even though things will change I want to say thank you to the whole ifanboy crew for giving that to me each week. For free even. Thanks guys.
January 19, 2013 2:30 pm I don't like changes that I don't like, so this sucks. This site and in particular the weekly podcasts have gotten me back to reading comics maybe 2 years ago or so. I enjoyed the positivity and enthusiasm of Ron most of all, so I am going to miss that. I really hope this won't be the beginning of the end of ifanboy. Ron, good luck at Image Comics and if you can convince Kirkman do to some shirtless pics for his huge gay following that would be amazing. Something good for me has got to come out of this after all!
