I never do this, but I’m writing a review for once. That’s because, thanks to DC’s new digital policy, I…

August 20, 2013 4:34 am Well, a couple of things drive people to piracy. One is no money. When you're poor and don't care, you'll pirate. Another is access. No shop around you? Pirate. The best way to combat the casual pirates is by providing them with easier ways to buy legally. There's nothing easier than Comixology. Downloading pirate copies takes way more time and effort. You will still have pirates who just don't want to pay, but I bet Comixology and day/date have helped curbed a lot of piracy from the people who wanted the books but had no way to get them. Americans in America have it great for comic access. Think about the rest of the world. Legit digital books have helped keep international readers buying the real thing. Why pay shipping and jacked up prices for physical books when the digital copy is right there?
July 4, 2013 1:44 am I don't know how it will translate. The digital view relies on guided view to give the panels a smooth transition. Word Balloons and sound effects appear with a swipe.
December 4, 2012 2:19 am Every non-geek I know loves the Big Bang Theory and they always tell me they're reminded of me when they watch it. Not so much for my behavior, but because they recognize that I like the same stuff as those guys. The show doesn't insult me due to its portrayals of nerds. I just don't think it's funny.
November 9, 2012 4:44 am Sorry it's been cancelled. It always sucks when a series dies. Still, not everything can go forever and comics seem to be learning that lesson. As for the numbering of books. I think it's officially pointless to continue the trend of doing a book every month and numbering each one. They keep re-starting the numbers. How many other mediums rely so much on numbers? This could just be another step towards the entire model changing. Or it could be nothing. Constantine moving to the regular DCU and interacting with those guys is boring. If they can no longer continue the monthly Vertigo book, why not move to an OGN system or a mini-series or a one-shot system?
October 31, 2012 3:55 am I feel like it's a lot of new names and arrangements and stories that take off from the last ones. Just look at the covers. This is not new reader friendly at all. With the New 52, I jumped on a bunch of books because the stories didn't care about the old ones. I know these all will care about the past. Uncanny Avengers was fun but it was clearly the next story after AvX.
October 19, 2012 12:31 am You could still get them monthly. They would just reset the numbers every fall. They'd get the boost of a new #1, new readers would have easy entry points, and you'd just get a new story arc starting.
October 19, 2012 12:26 am I think comics should do seasons every fall. There's no reason to continue numbers forever. They already reboot all the time. why not do it in a way that normal people understand? They get the concept of a DVD box set season. We need Uncanny Avengers 2011-2013 / Season 1. Honestly, the only numbers that matter are the ones that tell me the order of the story. Harry Potter hit with a lot of people because it's 7 books. You know the order. It's easy to get into. For regular people, comics look too hard to learn. Spider-Man 690? Is that a good place to start?
October 11, 2012 3:36 am I thought the story was fine, but the art didn't do it for me. It felt like a season premiere. I just don't think this is really a great point for new people, certainly not like the New 52 was. So much of this was dependent on moving forward after the last story that many readers will think they need to go back to that. I still think the Marvel universe is too impenetrable. And now every aspect of the universe is so mixed together that I don't think it really helps any new reader. This book has X-Men stuff, Avengers stuff, and Captain America stuff. I really hope some of the NOW books can feel like they play in their own corners.
September 20, 2012 9:57 pm Why is this not available digitally? I need it.
September 14, 2012 12:50 am This is why I love comics. Such an amazing series. I'm buying it digitally, but I'll pick up any hardcover edition they publish. Amazing art and story. I saw the Skull Island stuff in issue 1 and was wondering what things they'd brought back from there.
