May 17, 2013 2:43 pm As a Lovecraft fan I've been dragged into this conversation on more than one occasion, mostly on the angle of "How can you read something by a racist?" To me, it can give context to the writer's work and insight into how their beliefs shaped their talents. I don't have to agree with what they believed, I just like to know what it was.
January 18, 2013 4:52 pm As much as I'll miss Ron's presence, I can't be sad because it sounds like he landed an amazing job. Congrats, man!
December 17, 2012 12:32 pm If All New X-Men gets delayed, I'll join your parade. It's come out so fast that there hasn't been time to adjust orders for it. So while yeah, everyone is loving it, we haven't been able to bump the numbers up so currently we have more subscribers than books we're getting.
November 8, 2012 12:23 pm While sad, and less than joyous about a remake rolling out, I can't say that 300 issues over 25 years is at all an awful run. I can't cry Farscape tears at an untimely passing when a title has seen more creative teams tackle the material for good runs than some publishers managed in their entire career. Missed, but not forgotten, is not an awful sentiment. Now let's get on DC's case to get all of the trades back in print. THAT is a crime against the title.
October 16, 2012 10:30 pm Huh, weird. Diamond's site says 10/24. Also, none showed up in the order today.
October 16, 2012 9:11 pm I'm pretty sure A-Babies vs X-Babies doesn't drop until next week.
June 25, 2012 1:22 pm The cynic in me says "maybe THEY don't want the next generation of comic makers well-informed before they go out, make a mistake they'd lose their shirt on, and fail horribly to never enter the market as competitors." It lets the business people fly through, but the people who might be better at other areas to remain more...subjugated in this industry. But I'd rather that not be true.
June 25, 2012 1:11 pm @JokersNuts Asking for information from people who are informed and deal with that kind of business routinely isn't cheating. If someone came up to me and asked, "Can you suggest a good comic?" and I said, "Go pick something up and read it," I'm PRETTY sure I'd be told to go sodomize myself as that is a crap answer and all they learned is that I shouldn't be asked questions.
May 24, 2012 5:12 pm @RaceMcCloud My personal opinion. As a reader of X-Men off and on for years, those issues feel no more than "A Very Special Blossom." That might be a great vague metaphor for being a teenager, but gently saying, "Hey LGBT kid, it applies to you, too" is like an upper class white guy telling an inner city black boy "I know exactly what you're going through." The "job" will not get done with a single issue, but I'd love to see some writers be handed tasks that deal with issues beyond a spectacle event. Maybe find some gay people in the real world and get their input (since I'm assuming, but could be entirely wrong and would LOVE to be told I'm totally effing wrong, like almost every other field that it's mostly run by straight men) instead of just thinking "Eh, I can imagine what it's like and that's good enough, right?" If X-Men of all books isn't up to that task, then they might want to change their tune to something they're more comfortable with like "we just want guys who can just blow crap up." /End Preachy Bits @BCDX97 Richtor and Shatterstar getting married is WAY less interesting than seeing if they'll get to the point where they're ready to get married.
May 24, 2012 4:39 pm Glad that only took them a decade to catch on.
