March 10, 2012 2:51 am Just saw it and the best way to describe it is: It's the second Star Wars trilogy, but done well, and with superman as the hero instead of a Jedi. Also if we ever get Wolverine going completely berserk like we all would really like to see, it should look like the fights in this film.

With greatest respect to you and to your work, and also with a great understanding of why you would be upset about the now inevitable prequels to your landmark work of Watchmen, you did this to yourself. You took yourself out of the game, out of pride and a desire for freedom and respect, but in doing so you also made yourself irrelevant. You've made it quite well known by now that there will be no approval on your end of anything that anyone else tries to do with any of your works. You've taken a stand, but you've done so with no cards in your hand, so all the big corporate creators need to do is ignore you to make money. As we all know corporations exist to make money, so be assured you will be ignored. I've no doubt in my mind that you hate this, but there is a way that you can beat this problem. I gather from your comment that you see this work, and maybe all your cannon of work, as akin to the works of Herman Melville or some other master. Most would agree with you in that assessment, and this affront to your work, by being lumped in with other creators who had no more involvement in the work than being fanboys could seem to cheapen what you've done. There is nothing you can do to stop this, it will happen and it will make a lot of noise and money. What you can do is out shine their efforts. Create something better than they will, tell those same stories, but do it the way you would envision it. In the annals of history where all great works rest, they are not the property of their publishers, but of their authors, and the words of the author have final stay on the work as it is viewed in the sitting rooms and lecture halls of the future. If others want to tell those tales then let them do it, but if you tell a better tale, one that fits, one that is resonant, then you will be the one who is remembered. I'm not saying they will see publication in your lifetime, but if those things exist they will at least be your voice on the subject. Best wishes. LAH

June 7, 2011 10:51 pm while I'm ok with this, because 50 seems like the right amount of a good thing, i do fear for other more vertigo books, like unwritten. I want that book to do all that it wants to do, and that feels like a story that would take another 3 years to end, I know there is a plan, i just hope the unwritten is in it.

June 3, 2011 6:00 pm Most Superhero movies watch like an action movie, but that has never been true of the X-men, which always have seemed like more of a drama to me, with action thrown in. Its taken for granted that these people have powers and can do great things to the point were you almost forget that it's impressive. I don't mean that in a bad way, i think it says something wonderful about the world of the X-men that that is true, it's a world of extraordinary things.

I think it plays more like a drama than an action peice because of that though, because everyone has powers and is dealing with what that means to them, in the same way that we all have problems "Oh I'm not pretty enough", "I feel like a threat to those i love", "My mom was killed in fornt of me and now i'm really upset about it and want to kill a bunch of people" You know everyday problems.  and because these problems are so everyday they stand out and make the powers a nice window dressing for the drama.

I very much hope to see another.

OH i would love to see Xavier going after Storm as she is being worshiped in the african desert, Her god Complex being played upon by Magneto, and in the end her Godlike love for the people she protects being the reason she sides with Xavier.

I would love to see Havok go looking for his long lost brother.

I would love to see what happens to Mystiqe and the brotherhood.

I would love to see both of them keep trying to get wolverine to join a team.

I would love to see sentenials!

I really want t second class!
