August 8, 2013 7:09 pm Why is Busiek not working in the Big 2 anymore? I prefer him over some of the current crop of writers they have at DC and Marvel.
August 8, 2013 7:05 pm You can go to his website to see what he had planned for all his aborted projects.
August 8, 2013 6:00 pm And with a wave of a magic wand, all that history is just a mere footnote in the new 52.
August 8, 2013 5:48 pm I agree completely. I use to collect the Avengers religiously and have every Avenger issue in my stash. Now my collection ends with Busiek's run. There is so much negative baggage that seems to be attached to our heroes today. First Wanda and now Cyclops. It seems the writers today can't tell an interesting story without corrupting one of the heroes anymore.
July 31, 2013 2:10 pm So how much is this issue worth since it's the first appearance of Blade?
July 31, 2013 2:05 pm Is it wrong that the first thing I thought of when I saw Power Girl had a kid? was... Who's the lucky guy that got together with PG? Then I saw it was magical. Booo
July 31, 2013 2:03 pm Completely agree. Can't understand the fascination writers have for this character. I was so disappointed to find out he was the first villain in the New Mutants relaunched series a few years ago.
July 29, 2013 4:41 pm Don't get me started on today's comics compared to yesteryear's comics. Even if there were no alternatives like the internet or cable tv, if I were a kid today I would be in a state of internal depression reading today's storylines in comics. They are so dark and depressing and they just drag on issue after issue. It's really hard to just pick up a random issue today because the storylines are not only convoluted but never seem to resolve itself until a few years later. Whether it's editorial or writer's prerogative I have no idea, but they need to find a better balance. Hickman and Rememder are the biggest culprits of this kind of storytelling. Even back when I was growing up there were dark times like Dark Phoenix saga and Michael Saga in the Avengers but it never dwelled on those issues too long and would move on. There was a nice balance of long storylines followed by short ones. Not so much today. I guess comics due to reflect the times and unfortunately we seem to live in a world that focuses more dark events than positive events.
July 29, 2013 4:12 pm Finally got to watch an episode. Not as bad as I thought and a whole lot better than Ultimate Spider-Man or Avengers:United we stand. But Avengers:EMH was still better. Don't understand the change other than to follow more closely with the movie which is dumb because no average movie goer who watched the Avengers movie is going to tune into the cartoon anyway.
July 29, 2013 4:08 pm Ah, Avengers #500. Proof positive when sales are low just start really f******* things up with the status quo to increase the numbers. Superman death,Human Torch death etc. Is it the casual fans that drive the numbers up or those collectors who actually think they are going to get rich because of this one issue? Sadly the version of the Avengers I grew up with died starting with this issue.
