July 17, 2008 2:39 pm Lewis, I glanced at your post and at first thought it started with the sentence "I am Brian Wood."  And my esphogus jumped out through my brain.

I know, I just never pass up a chance to shout Local to the world.  Any spotlight on that book is great.  It may seem like a stretch to some, but I think there is a similar journey going on between Local and DMZ.  Both Matty and Megan are trying to find understanding and community in a world that is no longer familar to them.  The major difference in those journeys is that Matty's is a restricted, compacted journey with extreme geographic limits and Megan's is open ended and expansive without geographic limits.  It is that journey and searching that I latch onto in Brian Wood's work.  A similar theme is present in Northlanders, but with a much harder edge.

Nicolas,

There are these great collections of UK War comics that are 700+ pages.  They are collected War Picture Library, Battle Picture Library, and Commando and there are at least 8 volumes out with more coming out later this year.  They can be found on Amazon UK and on Forbidden Planet International.  If you look up the title Unleash Hell on Amazon UK, it will recommend the other volumes within the listing.  I have a couple of these and they will keep you busy for awhile.

With the DC Showcases Sgt. Rock Volume 1 is out.  Volume 2 will be out later this year.  There are also Showcases of Haunted Tank (2 volumes) Unknown Soldier (1 volume) and War That Time Forgot (1 volume).

There is also the Mammoth Book of War Comics which is another large volume with various writers.

May 31, 2008 2:13 pm I don't think there has been much more than that interview and the press release about the license.  I am guessing that they will hold further detail about the books creative times, individual comic line names, reprints, etc until San Diego where they can get bigger press.  IDW has known that they had the license for awhile so I would imagine there is lots of work in progress.
May 30, 2008 12:28 pm I love Templesmith's art.  I got the Feral City hard cover, even though I already had the issue.  I only wish it had been oversized.  His Hatter M mini series from Image was also great art to stare at for hours on end.
May 29, 2008 4:52 pm I would vote for all of the above except Black Summer.  I think Black Summer will read well once all of the 7 issues come out.
