February 2, 2012 10:15 pm Not to mention when Alex was on the new warriors he seemed college age... Why ask why? It's power pack!!! One of the top 10 books of the late 80's early 90's! That statistic is totally made up but c'mon... Soap opera kids are 2 for 20 years... Love me some PACK
February 2, 2012 1:39 pm just called and ordered the variant , i was told 20 bucks... there was a long silence, and then comic guy said if i change my mind when the book comes in thats fine... so we'll see where i'm at that wednesday... i have a ton of variants from back in the day; however it seems it's been awhile and this variant cover thing is a whole new animal now...

@DaveCarr - yes I'm the one refereed to as intern... though if you have been around for a few years, it was me who started the booth babe thing at SDCC...though i can't find those pics anymore...

anywho... Conor...that this was an awesome article... i read the whole thing and it was GREAT.

i had forgotten much of that... for some reason my memories of west side comics are reduced to bearded men one shorter than the other and always...ALWAYS a pack of camel unfiltered cigarettes on the counter... did we speak to them? i think i was envious/scared of them... i remember we would we go there all the time, even on holidays.. god bless us running away from homeless people on thanksgiving... i don't think they were open, but i love that memory... my apartment was next to a methadone clinic...
i remember the quarter bin which was on the second shelf to the right and ohhhh how i cleaned up on my psi-force....
i too was given a limited budget and rather than hitting the back issues i hit the quarter bin when i had extra cash. for some reason i was about quantity over quality at that time...maybe i was trying to catch up to conor who seemed to have so many more comics than me. doom patrol was another book i was mocked for picking up at the time... hahaha i was into grant morrison before you...
oh how the tides have turned... somewhere down the road you branched out... i still recommended preacher first but it wasn't until multiple people raved about it did you pick it up... i won't forget last wonder con you turned me on to so much, invincible, johna hex, queen and country, etc

and this year...the walking dead...man you made me a kirkman bitch
his stuff is so amazing...

there was another comic shop "funny business" i think it was on 90th and Amsterdam

my break down is this
westside for current and quarter bin comics
comics for sale for comic trading cards and marvel/DC back issues
big apple for posters and back issues..and feeling grown up... and i have the entire run of advanced dungeons and dragons thanks to them...
funny business for realizing some people have no idea how to run a comic shop...

i now have to hunt down my who's who binder as i realize i have no idea where it is and that scares me...

i saw the midnight show and i might have been sleep deprived but i thought the movie was pretty good.

i give it a 7 on the hotness scale...

it was fun, and changed a bit, but overall a good time

...JUST SEE IT

first thing i noticed on this podcast... someone relized people are waiting for trades and not buying single issues....

35 something for the first trade and 25 something for the second trade....

are these hardcover?

wow, what a jump from 19.99

i jumped on waaaaaay back in the day with hulk and hung around for as long as i could... the espionoge stuff with the mr.green on the laptop kind of bored me and i ended up dropping...right before planet hulk.... of course

so i can't wait to go back and get all the issues and the world war hulk issues and crossovers

hulk is just one of those characters whose fun to follow, and writer have taken so many diffrent turns and sometimes flips with him.

i mean grey hulk was almost werewolf like only coming out at night and smart hulk joining and becoming the leader of the pantheon.... not to mention future hulk with his harem of women as the maestro

you never know where he'll go next.... and thats one of the fun things about the hulk

though it always comes back to...HULK SMASH... and how cool was that in the movie (found out today that not only was lue ferigno the security guard but he did the hulk voice too)

not a lot of marvel characters you can say that you never know what will come next with them

i don't buy the mockingbird thing only because she was last seen in hell with mephisto helping hellcat escape....

of course its a hell demension and they can say it was a demon pretending to be mockingbird....but i don't buy it...

someone should make a list of every hero to die and then return in the last few years

wasn't jessica drew last seen in japan helping logan when wolverine #1 came out way way back... she ran a bar or something...

but FUCKING WHEDON... he kills me every time... on buffy, oh yes i love this couple they will be happy, its so perfect....BOOM he kills it... he is the killer of happieness

people have shirts that say he is their master... f-that he is the kick you in the nuts guy...

but damn him for grasping the characters and making them his own...

arghhhh, it was an okay story

i need to know though... i'm not crazy about the x-force art, but just maybe damn that might be the best X book out there after this last issue...

given i'm not too x-factor savey, but WOW...x-force is hitting all the right cords, its more than a you got claws and fangs book...i almost wrote it off as such...

tell me i'm not all crazy

i'm glad to hear you're into bin diving... not at this con so much, but it seems i'm the only one who hits up the 20 for 10 boxs.... so it'll be good to have company. we can cover more ground...

i.e. i saw a crap load of defenders in the boxes over in section 113 row 5

i think the only defender books i have are "Dr. Strange and the Defenders" and the only reason i have those are because it was a split comic and i was really into cloak and dagger which made up the second half of the book

though i did buy the miguire run a few years ago
