This is a fine reboot that got the characters right. And as a "Trekkie" I take no issue with the parallel dimension deal or whatever. The only issue I take I have is that the point of the ST deal is that these were stories that served to teach us something about ourselves, in an optimistic way. This film does not do that (Even considering Kirk's half-hearted negotiation attempt). As long as the future movies make a bigger point of: as long as we stick to the big values of talking before shooting and thinking before acting, we may have a franchise worthy of Roddenberry’s legacy.
