Name: Fate Spears

Bio: I love comic books! I started reading in '75 when I was 5 years old (yeah, I'm 40 now with much more grey hair!). I missed a second part of a Batman tv show and made my mom get me a comic. I've been hooked ever since, always getting Batman & Detective. I have read a lot of the popular stuff and can't usually trade wait but financially have to get trades of series I don't follow from my library. I have two daughters who love comics too. My oldest (14) digs Umbrella Academy & Zatanna while my youngest (11) loves Tiny Titans & Pet Avengers. I have M.S. and have had to have 3 hip surgeries (2 implants so I'm part cyborg but walk like a zombie!) during my last replacement I started Comic Book Connection Initiative where we take donated comics to children in homeless shelters, food pantries, hospitals and after-school programs. We also send mature title to our troops. Check us out on Facebook if you are interested : http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Comic-Book-Connection-Initiative/109911025706802 .

January 20, 2011 10:23 am I think it will be a fun look at the beginning of the x-men. I liked the series so far even if others were not crazy about the last few (X3 & Wolverine).
January 13, 2011 8:12 am This would have been super cool! It should have sold and would have rocked!
January 13, 2011 8:10 am God, I hope that Boom comes back strong with those titles. The kids love them and we need to "seed" the future readers of this great medium.
January 13, 2011 8:03 am I was thrilled with Hal's newest GL series, hesitant about GLC, uncomfortable with GL:EW, now I hear about a Red Lantern series? Ok, that is enough. I'm going to cut back to one GL series!
By the way Mike, where, oh where could one donate comics to help kids in need? (Comic Book Connection Initiative) Who would take my old comics and give them to homeless shelters, food pantries, afterschool programs & hospitals? (Comic Book Connection Initiative). Where would I find information about such an organization? http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=180083128693238#!/pages/Comic-Book-Connection-Initiative/109911025706802 . Who runs such a cool group???? Hmmm
Great article Mike!
January 6, 2011 8:41 am Great top 10 guys. Definetly agree with B&B #33. It broke my heart and what a great, strong art chore by Chiang! I would also suggest Thor: The mighty Avenger #4 ? What fun. Great list and I have to track down Sea Bear & Grizzly Shark. Thanks!
December 19, 2010 6:59 pm Good show....GREAT ENDING!! Holy crap! Super cool subplots building up to a great run. I can't wait until the payoff.
December 16, 2010 7:57 am Oh no! There goes Tokyo..Go,Go Godzilla...ohwooo. Sorry, someone had to say it. Looks great. Powell is pefect for this.
December 11, 2010 8:44 pm I started Comic Connection Initiative for this very purpose (too many comics, not enough room). I give them to homeless shelters, food pantries, afterschool programs and childrens hospitals. I also started sending them to troops overseas for the more mature titles. I culled about half of my collection (goodbye Justice League Task Force, Valiant, and 100's of others). It let's me bring more home from my LCS without my wife yelling too bad! If anyone wants to see how I did it and wants any tips, check out our FB page: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Comic-Book-Connection-Initiative/109911025706802 or e-mail me.
December 11, 2010 8:24 pm OH MY (Asgardian) GODS! That looks f-ing awesome!!! Green Lantern, Thor and Captain America next year...must....not....freak...out. Batman has always been my number one, but 2-4 are getting their own flicks next year!! WOW!
December 9, 2010 2:43 pm Great interview, as always John. I liked his thoughts on comics when he went off on a tangent. Thanks.
