Name: Brian McNally

Bio: Now home in the United State after 13 years in East Asia (Japan 11 years, S. Korea 2 years), so wow to be able to go to an LCS on Wednesday is surreal. Returning to iFanboy after a one-two year "hiatus," it is nice to be back and to be a noobie woobie - I feel fresh! I remember iFanboy when it really was just a one page review, an audio podcast, and a telephone number for Darryl to call. You've come a long way baby. Love Love Love anything Pulp or Golden Age or anything channeling Golden Age or Pulp. Brubaker, Mignola, DD Bendis, Batman, Brubaker, Rucka, old school Avengers, old school DC, the Shadow and Green Hornet, Invaders oh I love the Invaders, Brubaker (did I say Brubaker?), anything by Jeff Parker, Agents of Atlas take me away, Michael Lark is fabulous you know he is, BPRD did I mention Mignola (Arcudi and Guy Davis)? My next new big thing is TinTin from the 30s. Hold an advanced degree in advanced Superhero costume fashion critique, sometimes less really is more. Kneel before Alex Toth, Kirby and Bill Everett oh you unwashed hordes, not that I'm biased or anything. I am extremely picky about art styles and have no problem passing on an extremely well written story if the art does not appeal to me, see above favorites. I also do a fair amount of drawing, sculpting, puppet/figure making, writing etc. etc. etc. BSG, Caprica, CW. Love reading other comments, hold a degree in advanced lurking, I'm right behind you, cheers!

I have strong vivid memories of this issue when it first came out (1975, I was 8). The cover with all the new characters on it said: "You must buy this, you know you do." In fact, I have vivid memories of this particular sequence, and my reaction to it at the time: "Wow, poor Cyclops... but that mutant eyes thing is kind of dumb .... but still, poor Cyclops...." Kind of dumb with hindsight, but in 1975 Cyclops, er, Claremont, was really ahead of the pack and knew what he was doing.

PS&BTW, props to Dave Cockrum on art there. I find it somewhat spooky that even after 30 years I can remember both his name and how to spell it.... Too bad that shade of yellow and that blue don't really go together, but the 60s X-Men had a real problem with the color choices. Must be a mutant thing.
