August 6, 2012 9:45 pm I pretty much agree. I see a lot more potential for Marvel to be able to crank out an awesome Daredevil movie than make Galactus look good on screen...and really, isn't one cosmic tyrant enough for them right now? With Spidey still tied up with Sony, DD seems like a critical piece to a street-level Marvel film franchise.
July 25, 2012 4:54 pm Definitely agree! This was a really great little story. The idea is still one I like even though it's been tried half a dozen times (especially on TV) and done well on occasion. But Chris is definitely a well-imagined lead and I like the suggestions of where a longer series could go. Besides, I mean, Lemire. Seriously.
July 25, 2012 4:53 pm Looks like the same number as the other $3.99 comics in DC's lineup, but it's all one story (instead of a main story and a backup), so it's pretty meaty.
July 19, 2012 2:34 pm From everything I've read it's not necessarily going back to the beginning like DC did (mostly), just renumbering and theoretically creating new starting points. But Marvel did something similar a few times in the recent past after major events, and the #1s could still be reaaaaally hard to follow without knowing recent history. I hope they do better this time than they have before, but...
July 18, 2012 3:58 pm I find it a slightly trite tactic when it comes to the whole "establishing a woman can kick as much ass as a man," but like I said in the review, I don't mind it on its own: I'm mostly concerned BECAUSE DeConnick did the same thing in last week's AVENGING SPIDER-MAN which guest starred Carol. The character is strong enough that she doesn't NEED that, and I think DeConnick is a good enough writer to not have to resort to it either.
July 18, 2012 3:34 pm There are similarities, but as a video game professional, I can tell you that right now the man-children in gaming fandom are generally both louder and whinier (and usually a great deal more offensive about it). This may not have always been the case, but it certainly is at this point in time.
July 14, 2012 3:16 pm Hmm. I like that they're trying something different, but I don't like this design. Too much gold, like other people said: unpleasant to the eyes. I'd rather see a more significant design departure in the armor's structure than a paint job. If they really want a very different armor I wouldn't even mind seeing some permutation on the Ultimate Iron Man suit. They're already pulling a lot of Ultimate stuff for some of the other movies.
July 13, 2012 2:31 am I get that, but I think it's weak plotting. It's one of those things that, like, I find hard to believe would be happening, given the characters, unless the story needed them to be together (which it did).
July 12, 2012 12:28 pm I guess I didn't pay much attention to the borders - which in itself means they are less than Paquette level. I do think Rudy is not all Paquette was, though as I was writing this up I felt like I'd said that in an earlier Swampy review closer to when the change happened and didn't want to harp on it too much.
