July 16, 2013 1:30 am I've been loving the one-shot feel of the series but it's for that same reason that I'm close to dropping it to pick it up later when it's not in competition with 8 other books. A man has to save some money for burritos.
July 10, 2013 3:28 am I liked the art for the Limbo scenes. If it had stayed that way once they'd finished that little arc I would have been a touch disappointed but for the task at hand I thought it was perfect.
July 10, 2013 3:27 am My simple criteria for deciding if I'll continue to pick up a series is this, "Do I remember what happened last issue?" If I can't remember what happened last time I usually skip the series. All credit to Snyder, this is getting a second pick up purely because I want to see where he takes Superman. This, despite my only having a vague recollection of something about a satellite. This is the only title in my list that I'm not 100% anxious to crack open.
July 10, 2013 3:16 am IDW's two other Dredd series have acted as the perfect primer for getting into these classics stories I never knew I should have been reading. They planned this out perfectly. Here, have some new Dredd #1s... now, read the back matter that gives you the history of the original series.... like that? yeah? here... BAM! Classic tales! Muhahahaha! Evil geniuses running IDW.
July 6, 2013 10:28 pm The fellow at my LCS flat out stated his disapproval for this as he rang up my picks for the week. "Too many words," was his only critique. No one ever says, "too many pictures" when they complain about a comic. The brilliance of all of Fraction's words was in the repetition that allowed you to get the overlap in events that would have been missed otherwise. It set a frenetic pace that I found exhilarating. Chaykin's black and white art, however, left me with a sense that every character was just an old white guy. Perhaps that's a commentary on the period they're working to depict but largely I found it sleepy.
June 26, 2013 11:11 am Looking forward to the new team-up but I really can't wait for a year or two from now once we have some distance from all the continuity clanging origin stories being told three different ways.
June 25, 2013 12:29 am Vies for favorite book every month.
June 25, 2013 12:27 am Agreed. I've been loving the Shazam backup more than the main title for months now. Why there isn't a solo book featuring Captain Marvel yet is a mystery to me.
June 25, 2013 12:24 am Been love love loving this.
June 25, 2013 12:24 am This may actually have been more anticipated than Superman Unchained. Pizza Dog is my hero.
