Thematically, I think that a prequel to Watchmen can work. The backstories of some of the characters were heavily hinted…

August 23, 2013 3:36 pm I think Ben Affleck has grown tremendously as an actor in the past few years. That being said, my first reactions to this are skewed towards the negative side. Affleck is an actor known for bringing himself to alot of his roles, and I don't think that really works for Bruce Wayne. And YES, I know that part of RDJ's charm in playing Tony Stark is that he interjects his own personality into the character, but that works because his personality and Stark's character run on very parallel rails. That's not really the case for Affleck and Bruce Wayne. Plus, I don't think that the Heath Ledger comparisons are fully parallel to this. Yes, Ledger was an unexpected choice for the Joker. The difference is that it was an unexpected choice made by a director with a FAR better track record than this one. With Nolan, you can confidently say "I'm wary, but I have faith in him". Can you really say that with Snyder? The reception to 300, Watchmen, Sucker Punch and Man Of Steel has been mixed to downright negative. A small handful can say stuff like "But I liked Man Of Steel!!" all they want, but the fact of the matter is that way too many people had the same reaction to the movie to call it anything but reviled. So yeah, Snyder doesn't get the same leeway that Nolan gets for offbeat casting choices.
August 23, 2013 1:51 pm It's definitely unfair. Just because a choice regarding a comic book movie is announced, the reaction doesn't always have to be "TEAM COMICS HURRAH!"
August 23, 2013 11:42 am Hell, if they made a Justice League Detroit book, there should be no reason why Justice League Canada shouldn't exist.
August 19, 2013 1:59 pm I think I met everyone I know from this site at the 300th episode taping. Truly a day that will live in infamy.
August 19, 2013 1:39 pm Absolutely agreed that anyone who hasn't gotten off the illegal download bandwagon will never do so, as they will justify themselves into eternity. With free comic download sites and torrents at this point, you just have to hope that they go the way of free music download sites and torrents: crush the opposition so that the only remaining options are virus laden downloads.
August 15, 2013 11:35 am 1) Thank you, Jeff, for displaying factual knowledge of the sport that I hold very near and dear to my heart! Chestnut is only a paper champion until he faces off against Kobayashi. 2) I hope that his super speed includes super speed metabolism, because man, when you eat THAT much tubed pig anus...
August 13, 2013 6:48 pm Marvel vs Capcom is great because ANYONE who picks it up can at least be good at it. It's fast paced and exciting, and all you have to tell those who are unfamiliar with fighting games is "Press down, forward, then an attack button to do a cool move!"
August 13, 2013 1:15 pm I've been strictly on trades lately, but I've been considering going back to issues for stories like this that are, for lack of a better term, the marquee titles. I don't mind reading comics in trade sized chunks, but I'm only human...the hype sometimes gets to me.
