August 16, 2011 10:44 am Nice video treat! Interesting insight into her process. I look forward to the days in the not-too-distant future where these kinds of extras get included w/ digital comics.
August 10, 2011 11:35 pm Ross was hilarious and Morello's enthusiasm for his book + soundtrack has me sold. Another great round of interviews. Josh had excellent questions for Morello. That had to be intimidating to talk to the guy whose riffs inspire tens of thousands of people into such kinetic energy, when you're at the shows, 99% of your attention is on the event but 1% is looking around and wondering, "okay people we're really doing this right now, this is no longer a concert, we're really starting The Revolution now, right?"
August 3, 2011 11:07 pm Loved the intro! (and the interviews too, of course)
August 3, 2011 6:08 pm Sold out at my retailer within the first 4 hours. Hope they do a reprint (and actually order a decent amount).
August 2, 2011 5:02 pm @daccampo - well put. agree completely.
August 2, 2011 2:32 am Kudos to Marvel and Bendis for this move. Can't wait to start this new journey with the new character. Rooting for ultimate success for Bendis's bold choices here.
August 1, 2011 7:51 pm BQ: the west memphis three. HBO's 3rd installment in the Paradise Lost series comes in November. I'm fascinated by the films and the case. I'd agree with the activists who say the "3" didn't get a fair trial and should get a new trial. But, I'm still not convinced of their innocence (which apparently the filmmakers do believe to be the case).
July 6, 2011 1:50 am Big thanks for this pick!

Have been curious about Moebius's work, but never knew where/when to find good examples. Now I do.

June 27, 2011 5:50 pm BQ: Worst job ever, working at a Grandy's fried chicken joint.

One of their specialties was fried livers. When you put a batch in the fryer to cook, they would routinely pop scalding hot projectiles of burning grease. These hazards could fly over a dozen feet. They were random, unpredictable, and there wasn't a single safety measure in place to avoid them.

Even though you'd learn how to stay away for the maximum amount of time possible, if it got busy, and you had to do things in the vicinity, you'd let your gaurd down, and you'd forget. And then suddenly, without warning, some random spot on your body would get hit with small glob of boiling grease.

And, oh yeah, the managers would routinely perform fraud - they would claim they had to "clock everyone out" as part of the shutdown procedure, so, you'd lose 10 minutes here, 20 there, and each pay period be shorted an hour or two compared to your actual work.
June 24, 2011 9:05 pm "Like any business, they're not going to keep doing it if it has an adverse effect"

Businesses do things that have adverse effects all the time. Haven't we all worked for one that makes bad decisions, adopts poor strategies, etc.?

One could argue that death gimmicks, unreliable deadline/release-dates and event fatigue are among the activites that have created the adverse effect of overall industry-wide sales decling. But within the relative numbers of an overall decline, death gimmicks and event miniseries are among the best sellers. It's possible for both to be true simultaneously.

I'm just glad that sooner or later, some of these particular grievances w/ the status quo of the industry will be transformed by day+date digital delivery.
