I'm looking forward to buying all my pulls from the last month! I only get paid once a month, so this week is it, man. I'm so into books this weekend. This week in particular I'm hyped for the Newuniversal Kieron Gillen one shot. and the wrap up of the firts Northlanders arc.

July 29, 2008 1:57 pm so would you recommend the trade of the original NU run? Is it essential reading? Sometimes I do feel like I'm missing something; but, that could be Elliss treating me like an intelligent reader...
July 29, 2008 11:13 am @Kimbo - I'm liking this second arc better than the first, for sure. Perhaps i'm settling into the universe a little (and getting used to the artwork). It definitely feels like it's progressing more agressively.
July 29, 2008 9:22 am This is Kieron Gillen's (Phonogram writer) guest appearance, which i'm excited about. Everything I've read by him is different (and good); so, I'm excited to see how this reads.

I liked the wheedon run for not needing to be involved in the other books' continuity. I hope that's the trend here - i don't pick up the other x-titles generally, because it's a slippery slope. Wheedon was like grip tape on that slope. (i'm sure there were some continuity cross-overs... take me to school, anyone?)

I do think ellis will be a great match for this. I Don't know his Thunderbolts stuff; but, his Avatar titles (specifically Black Summer, Anna Mercury, Docktor Sleepless) could be an indication of a slightly distopian take on X-ville. i like that idea. Wheedon left me feeling pretty awful; so, ellis has a dark place from which to start.

June 17, 2008 5:05 pm I'm looking forward to "Chiggers" by Hope Larson. She's Bryan Lee O'Malley's much under appreciated wife. Chiggers is about summer camp and teen angst (i gather) - so every idie lover should pick it up. HC is $17 SoftCover is $9 is i think.

This is Hope Larson's latest. I am very excited - she's my favorite illustrator.

This book promises to be more grounded and storytelly than her last two. Plus it's about camp. Who doesn't like camp?

pbpbpbpbt!

couldn't follow a word. i was hoping to be "brought up to speed" on the dc universe so that i could keep up with the new event. i'm a fool.

I will say that the Batman story's art was awesome.

when i picked up the first issue at free comic book day last year, i was very "yay a wolfman story! maybe it will be deep and introspective with lost of fist-shaking at the moon why god why aroooooo!" Now i'm going to drop it because i don't like feeling like i'm being talked down to for not following the other kirkman titles - he's a funny man, don't get me wrong - best re-occurring character on the video podcast.

The art has been great, though; but, like Ron, i need to tighten my belt.
