January 24, 2013 3:26 pm As a fan of the show, I have a heavy heart. But as a fan of Ron, I am excited for his opportunity. Good luck Ron and Good luck Josh and Connor. I'll vomit tears when i listen later, I'm sure. I hate goodbyes. Perhaps it's not goodbye; it's goodnight.
June 24, 2012 4:17 am It's been a while since i've read an X-book that made me feel like such an unexpected connection to a character. I haven't been following the X-books until recently, so Frenzy was on e of those characters that i sort of shrugged off - thinking that she was a relic of the 90s and that she would probably just be fodder for any X-writer's plot development and didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. I was completely overwhelmed by this sneak-attack in the midst of an obnoxious cross-over event. All of a sudden, Frenzy has an incredibly intense back story that justifies her attitude. It's the sort of character development that I expect from Brian Wood or Warren Ellis or Marjorie Lui. I will now put Christos Gage in my list of Authors I Can Trust. And, dare I forget to mention, the art was fantastic. the transitions from flash-back to the present were so poignant that it was impossible not to feel what Frenzy was feeling and connect to her in a completely new way. And the second page's leap from the plane was fantastic. I am so glad i didn't pass this book up because of the AVSX banner (i'm a little tired of this event). I think this issue will be a classic.
September 27, 2011 4:01 pm Blankets was the best GN i've read in a long time. I am eager to get a copy of this for the holidays.
September 24, 2011 12:33 pm Letterers! I have one. In fact, she's the only letterer I ever took note of. Hope Larson lettered the first few issues of Brian Wood's "Local," which I know is a favorite of Ron's. She then went on to do some great creator-owned indie stuff as a writer and illustrator - but I first noticed her as a letterer. There you have it. Also - Katie Cook is a great artist. she specializes in "adorable" but ("but" as if i have to justify "adorable" which i shouldn't) it works well for Fraggle Rock and her web comic, Gronk. This was a great show.
December 16, 2008 10:26 am i was honestly growing tired of this by the end of the first 8 part run. I'm glad i've held on, though. #9 reminded me that Ellis is an amazing storyteller. I hope that the schedule remains tight on this, so that i don't have to re-read everytime.

I'm only reading Astonishing - am I missing some continuity here? I'm on Astonishing because of the Wheedon run; it was a nice isolated story, right? I have been feeling like i'm missing something since Ellis jumped on and everyone's in SF. Storm comes along and there's no "hi-how are you."

how far back into Uncanny would i need to get in order to feel up to speed with Astonishing? I hate even having to ask that question - i'm not interested in buying everything so that i can enjoy one thing. know what i mean?

i am becoming disinterested in this. I loved Wheedon's run because i didn't have to keep up with other x-title to know what's going on.

having to do reasearch to start a new story arc in a series that you'd been following since early on? BUNK! Bunk, i say.

I'll pull it and see how upset i am for next month.

Watchmen and Invicible are definitely enjoyable in any attempted re-formatting - but, this doesn't feel new to me. It's kind of how my brain see's comics as i read them anyway. Don't get me wrong. I think the format shows promise - especially as more and more pages are drawn digitally so the source material is on hand anyway. This might be the most feasible way to get a (non-pdf) comic book on your ipod that's not a photogallery.
