February 18, 2012 7:27 pm I came into the new DD title a lit late in the game (a necessary evil in having to trim down some titles due to budget constraints), but caught up by way of the hardbound trade of issues 1-6 and the crossover with Spider-man. So... do I get DD#9? player1, if I were to base it on your review alone, I'd get my answer at your first sentence... however, having read through the rest of what can be described as a laundry list of praise, I get second thoughts - not because of the issue or its merits - but because of the seeming 'unfocused to the issue?' overall comment. I mean, what exactly was different here than with the last issue? What makes this unique? As a comparative point, let me mention that your review of Captain America #8 was better in this department - though it was still, a bit vague too (owing to non-spoiler concerns?), at least it covered some comments that made me think about the issue itself. That said, I'll take your word for it and proceed with getting DD#9. After all, your excitement did ooze from the above review.
February 18, 2012 6:54 pm I use reviews such as what's seen here for two things: a) learn about a title I'm not following and read through the comments - see if its worth checking out, and... b) read comments about a title I'm following to see what the reviewer has to say. In this particular case, I'm doing the 'b' option as I follow Winter Soldier. Having said that, I'm not sure if there are spoiler concerns, but aside from the first sentence of the second paragraph, this review could easily be used to describe issue 1 as well. Sorry if I had to point this out in what is my first official post in iFanboy, dix. I'm just trying to help. Next time, could we have a little more issue specific description added to make the issue's review less generic? Not asking for spoilers, mind you... but some teasers for those who have not read the issue yet - or better yet, your reaction to something in the issue.
