But I would urge those interested in Blade Runner, original or 2049 will probably enjoy and be impressed by Phillip Dick's novella "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" It really brings out the theme that this world is not just about humans and androids but about humans, androids and the lack of other animal species. And much, much more.

December 13, 2017 4:13 am In being terse with my question I was unclear—apologies. I couldn't agree more that looking at a full page is the essence of reading comics. I always look at full pages first and last. But I may have been reading comics longer than most of the fanbase—learned to read on Barks, bought Showcase Flash and Green Lantern and FF #1 on the stands—and my eyes reflect that. So to get the detail within a panel with the iPad, I value the panel view. But you answered the question—there really isn't the equivalent for book reading software. Thanks!

June 24, 2017 11:49 pm Saw it this pm with my three granddaughters, aged 5-10. Their major exposure to comics so far has been lots of Carl Barks. (The love the Incredibles, and since I consider the FF the "world's greatest comic mag" that is gratifying.) The two older girls were riveted, literally sitting on the edge of their seats for much of it. (The five year old was interested and never scared, and that's a good thing.) My own reaction was very positive too, but in many ways theirs matters more. So, to Ron, Josh and Conor and the rest of the community, What Wonder Women trades would you recommend for three young women who really liked the movie?

March 24, 2016 9:04 pm Appreciate your measured comments about Stan Lee. Given what information we have I suspect only a professional historian could disentangle a reasonable account. I offer three thoughts. First, I think we should be be modest in our criticism and generous in our appreciation for all the major creators of that period at Marvel. It was transformational. Second, Stan Lee or whoever made the move toward routinely giving credit to the creative team in the books helped transform the industry. Third, when I look across the many new ideas at Marvel then, primarily Fantastic Four but also Spiderman, all the Avengers, X-Men, Dr. Strange, etc. is seems the one thing constant was Stan Lee. And when I look at the original work of Ditko and Kirby after their time at Marvel, while it has a lot of merit, it is not at the same level as that burst of creativity in the early-mid 1960s. So whatever the "Marvel method" it seems as if Stan Lee had a huge positive influence on what was going on then.

September 7, 2015 3:08 pm Sorry to be slow leaving a comment. I too appreciate the pastiche of Neal DeGrasse Tyson in Prez and Seveneves. But check out the current science advisor: John Holdren. With great respect to NDGT, John is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering, has won two of the environmental "Nobel Prizes" (Volvo and Tyler), etc. The real deal.
