Name: Solomon Kull

Bio: Comic books in Canada cost way too much money, sometimes up to 200% more than the American price. MOST COMICS ARE PRINTED IN CANADA. Write to comic book publishers and tell them how you feel about this. Countless brick and mortar shops are losing more and more business each day due to the cost of comic books in Canada. Why should a book that was printed in Canada cost $26.99 while the American cover price is $14.99? The numbers are side by side, clear as day. That's nearly double the price! The particular book in question is "Pulse Vol. 3: Fear" trade paperback from Marvel, a prime example of price jacking. A book about a B-rated character (at best) from the largest publisher in Comics today shouldn't cost double the price just because it's Canadians reading the book. It should be noted that the book was published during a time when the Canadian dollar exceeded the value of the American dollar for a very short period of time. This is killing your local comic shop. They are alienating their readers. Speak up.

Only one should be considered racist, the Captain Marvel cover.  The Capitan America cover is clearly anti-racist.  I assume you mean the way the Japanese people were drawn.  I'd also like to point out that White people don't look like Captain Marvel does, but you don't hear anyone calling racism over that.   It was a different time with a different outlook on the world.

I fail to see how these covers are racist in the sense that they purposely seek to offend based on one's race, although an argument could be made to prove the opposite.

My solution?  Stop caring about the little things that annoy you about the past.  You'll never be able to enjoy these books if all you can think of is how they drew all the Asian guys with large teeth.

December 10, 2010 10:42 am Is this in any way related to the re-telling of the Infinity Gauntlet tale from Avengers & the Infinity Gauntlet?
December 10, 2010 10:34 am Some of my favorite Captain America and Avengers stories involved D-Man.  Just sayin'....
December 8, 2010 2:56 pm @flakbait  I heard they were reprinting a lot of the old Savage Sword of Conan The Barbarian stuff in color.  I'm no so sure how much I'll like it, but it's Conan and by Crom I love Conan.
December 8, 2010 11:23 am Great episode guys.  I should probably read some Strangers In Paradise.  I've only read a few pages back in the day when they were reprinted and reviewed by a Canadian magazine/catalogue called ETC., a book similar to Previews.  It looked good but my local shop didn't carry it and I was more into mainstream Marvel titles than anything at the time. I can still vividly remember those pages.  The book sounds like something I would enjoy nowadays, and since I really enjoyed the first few issues of Terry Moore's Echo I have no doubt I'll enjoy Strangers In Paradise as well.

This episode has me wanting more, so I guess I'll have to put an order in for the first trade.

Off to get this week's books, cheers.
December 8, 2010 10:49 am @josh  It's working now.  Blip.tv was dropping connection before, according to my terminal output from mplayer running on an Ubuntu box.

Anyway, it's working now. Please ignore my previous comment.
December 8, 2010 10:39 am The direct downloads are not working for me.  I had this exact problem last week.
