I just started this series with this issue and so far so good.   Fables is a nice jump from my usual picks.  Some…

This happens to be one of my favorite books right now.  I like how edgy and nearly maniacal Batman is…

You're right Viktorr...it's the 70's  EVEN BETTER.  I didn't notice "Hair" and wasn't sure about the timing on Pan Am.  This could afford a few chuckles.

I like this Batman.  A friend of mine can't stand it, he thinks that it's not the "real" Batman.  To that I say "GET OUT OF YOUR BOX, if not the world is going to be hard on you."  I digress...this Batman is gritty and funny.  I like that he is inturpreted differently, if they all wrote Batman the same why would you ever need to by another book?   Plus when characters change or become more than what you expect, it makes them human and entertaining.  AND this art is Soooooo goooood.

I agree with SmokMnky "Honestly this book is like driving down the freeway and seeing a car flipped over and on fire. I know its horrible and I hope everyone is ok but I just can't help the fact that I slow down and look.

I just can't look away!"

This has to be one of the best consistant comics in print right now.  Even on it's "bad" issues it's still good.  It's on my top 5, along with Fell, Umbrella Academy (sad it's over), New Avengers, and Green Arrow/Black Canary.

the dialoge is straight from a Superfriends episode.

I'm dropping it.

I'm loving this run, time travel to Camelot and now they drop Doom and Ironman in the 80's, huge splash pages with great art there's great potential and Bendis can deleiver.  And yeah there have been slow spots previously but it's picking up now. The New Avengers is actually my favorite team of the two but this is gearing up for a great story arc in two time deminsions.  I think people just need to enjoy it and see where it's going.  No need to rush, don't be like some kid on Christmas counting down days until the "skrull invasion".  The reveal is coming to but let this story run and when the curtain is lifted it might just surprise ya.

The struggle between Doom and Tony was great, I agree with iFanboy...loved the suit comparison.

February 22, 2008 4:33 pm Yep, this is a great story, the art was good to.  Too bad there isn't a rating for color and ink, the color when the Avengers appeared was awful...look at Ms. Marvel and her 'crayon' yellow hair.  Th emuted colors in the other panels are wonderful but the ink and color on the Avengers is bad.  I'd give the colorist a 2.

Hmmm, I'm buying this book because I want to believe.  I want to believe that this book will get better, but for now it still isn't there.  I agree with TehDave,  JJJ was HORRIBLE looking, the art...not so much, the story...it's trying.  We'll see.

February 17, 2008 5:40 pm THIS BOOK WAS GREAT.  I'm glad to see a new artist, b/c Yu was good but this is good too, sorta "indy" if there is such a thing.  I do have one complaint, not with the art and not with the story but the inks and the color on this book really falls short in places.  In fact there are spots were it really sucks.  I LOVE the first 5 or so pages and then when the Avengers first make an appearance, WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE COLOR...Ms Marvel has CRAYON yellow hair, it looks like something my niece has on the fridge.  Really, take a look at some of the colors, no shading, no texture, no I dunno, it's weak.  Sure the darker pages and set the mood and they are wonderful but COME ON the color on the costumes of these guys could have been done by me in flash or illustrator.  Nuff said.  On the other hand the story and the art are FANTASTIC.
