This was my first exposure to Bendis and it's not a favorable one.  I've heard great things about him and luckily I did read his issues leading up to the SI event.  Those lead-in stories, especially those in the New Avengers, were good and they seemed to have a weight about them, either way they were much more captivating...so what a let down later.  I'm hanging on with the New Avengers and Mighty Avengers hopefully they will move to the top of the stack, for now there somewhere in the middle.

This is the best series and I shouldn't hold all my other books up to this standard but it's just so damn hard after reading this. 

September 17, 2008 10:49 am It is a good book don't get me wrong BUT I'm not sure it would have been my pick of the week if it shipped against other great titles.  It's good but against other books in my pull list it didn't have any real tough competition.

September 9, 2008 11:23 am @thefragilenin I'm going to take a look at this book and maybe by the rest of the story arc if it looks decent.  I went to the Hellboy II movie and it has gotten me interested in the characters.  Any advice, do you need to know a lot of back story to enjoy...if so what's a good jumping on point?

June 17, 2008 2:21 pm This book was a complete suprise to me.  It was excellent.  My comic shop put it in my bag and I thought "ok, I'll give it a try"  I'm glad I did.  It has pushed me into reading Nova as well...another sleeper.

May 28, 2008 2:32 pm @Eyun  Agreed, damn Josh, this is at least the 10th time he's vexed me.  I realy like this origin story, I am new to the character but have heard a bunch about him through friends...this is a great book and obviously a great jumping on point for folks like me who know nothing about Hal.

@ohcaroline-- gr8 review.  I've been looking forward to this book now that we're past Messiah Complex (hated Messiah Complex) but anything was an improvement.  I'm glad I wasn't the only one who enjoyed seeing the team divided I like that they have their own mini story arcs.  The cover made my mouth water, but the story held it's own too.
