September 28, 2011 11:09 am I'm intrigued. It's same day digitial on Comixology so I'll try the first issue.
September 28, 2011 11:08 am Love Bachalo. The first 2 covers look awesome. The X-men verse is in a great place right now.
September 26, 2011 12:44 pm How does having sex with one person, Batman, make her a sexpot? It's freaking Batman. I know this may come as a shock to you but adults do have pre-marital sex. I know. It's scary. The inference that Winnick wants you to make is that they are going to have sex. They didnt' actually have sex in the issue. I had no issue with Catwoman's portrayal. The ending was actually spot on. Catwoman was vunerable; her place was just destroyed; and just in the nick of time, the object of her affection shows up to comfort her. Is that wrong? No. Does that make her a "sexpot"? No. It's amazing to me just how many people are uptight about sex or anything sexy being depicted in ther comics. It's utterly shocking. @TNC correct me If I'm wrong you always hated SIrens, claimed it was cheesecake, but now your making your argument based upon Catwoman's depiction in Sirens. Again, a book you hated, and probably never read, but will now claim you did. If you've listened to the podcast for any period of time, you will know the guys belief system, and the fact that they aren't up in arms about Catwoman should come as no suprise. I know you want them to be as upset as you, but all the arguing isn't going to change it.
September 23, 2011 3:48 pm I knew absolutely nothing about Demon Knights, and had the same reaction you did. I didn't who was who, or why they were in a middle ages-y setting, and why they were fighting but I enjoyed it. Not POTW worthy to me, but nonetheless a solid book. Will give it a few more issues to really grab me.
September 20, 2011 2:36 pm Always look forward to the Grab Bag! Why the recommendation on the Yamaha? I'm in the market for a soundbar, and just haven't found anything too appealing. Agree on Gears. I got the shipment notification from Amazon, but now the hard part, finding chunks of time to play it. Picked up the Star Wars Blue Ray, and watched the New Hope, and Empire over the weekend. The movies look A LOT better. Amazingly, the movies for the most part, look like they can hold up to today's CG standars. As far as the new fall season, there's nothing I'm overly interested. I'll wait to see what "word of mouth" has to say on the new crop of shows. I will say that Terra Nova at least looks interesting, and Up all Night might be ok. Also, interested in checking out Ringer with Buffy, but lately I've just been content with catching up on Mad Men.
September 16, 2011 4:07 pm Solid Read Josh. Like others have said, I don't think the problem is limited to comics. Same can be said for video games, movies, tv shows, music, prose books etc. At this point in my life, it's not the $ that's the issue it's the time, and I simply don't have enought of it to indulge in the all the wonderful things media is putting out. I've solved the storage, and clutter issue with comixology. I'm buying everything I'm interested in enough to read digitally, and I'm know down to 3 or 4 physical books, and those are all Marvel. I wouldn't be surprised if by year's end I'm not buying any physical books. The problem seems to boil down to gluttony. We want to absorb everything we can, but the majority of us don't have the time. It's a good problem to have.
September 15, 2011 8:44 am The entire "bit by. Spider" origin doesn't strike you as exactly the same as Patker?
September 14, 2011 8:48 pm The art rarely bothers me in a book, but it was noticeable. Not my cup of tea, but that doesn't necessarily mean the art was bad. Solid story. Loved the mini; so this was an insta--pull from the moment Lemire was announced on the book.
September 14, 2011 7:51 pm Solid book, but it needed more meat. I guess that's what happens when there's only 20 of story, and it's $4. Also, seemed like Bendis took the easy way out with Miles' origin. It is eerily similar to Peter Parker. Couldn't we have done something different for his origin?
September 1, 2011 10:35 pm Tried to pick this up, but midtown comics was oddly sold out. I did pick up issue 5, and will pick up the trade when it goes back in stock. The book sounds superb.
