You just knew Fraction wasn’t walking away from Thor without taking on a Surtur story. He and Gillen continue to…

August 12, 2012 10:45 pm Come on, dude. Not really the same thing. You made me chuckle, though. High five! I showed the panel to my wife and asked her if anything seemed off. She didn't see the gaffe. Mistakes were made. It probably isn't the end of the world. I begrudge no one who will continue to enjoy this series. Personally, I would have been really impressed if Wood's response was more along the lines of "D'oh!" instead of "Well excuuuuuuse me!" but I know these guys have a lot riding on their work and are very protective of it. I can't fault them for it.
August 12, 2012 10:37 pm I was going to write a similar review, but with a 3 for story and 5 for art. This is 100x more inspired than the interiors Davis and Farmer did for this week's Mighty Thor. The story struck me in the same way, feeling vintage Marvel, but with a slightly more modern sensibility. I LOVED that about it. I'd love it more if I was familiar with Clan Destine. I suspect this series is something that will tend to appeal to older Marvel readers, and maybe will be less appreciated by the younger crowd (though there will certainly be exceptions in both cases.) I enjoyed this issue much more than the FF annual. I suggest to you all that you probably don't have to read the other two tie-in annuals to appreciate this issue.
August 12, 2012 10:25 pm It's Fraction's work! If you hate it, please don't hold it against Jason Aaron, the poor bastard!
August 11, 2012 8:28 pm Great, great issue all around, for sure. THIS, Marvel, is an event worth reading. And hardly a punch has been thrown!
August 11, 2012 8:25 pm That Stegman Galactus page is money. I think the uncolored inks looked even better, too. Some rich bastard is going to be lucky enough to own that page. Whoever you are, let it be known that I hate you.
August 11, 2012 8:20 pm Wait, I'm not sure that my last comment reads as being fully sympathetic towards you, Vidman. I am fully sympathetic towards you, Vidman.
August 11, 2012 8:19 pm Ha! I wrote a comment about this, as well. Somehow I missed yours before writing it, or I would have tacked on to yours. I love how people completely jumped in your shit without knowing anything besides Wood's vague tweet. The panel was a mistake, an honest one. You don't want to read it anymore, you said why. No need for it to be a nasty breakup, right? Sounds like plenty of other people are still digging it.
August 11, 2012 7:42 pm A mix of exceptional awesomeness and meh. The Galactus ship was far out, and stegman's corpse splash page is bad ass. Had to look that up to see what the original art is going for. Overall, this one is three stars for me.
August 10, 2012 10:30 pm I was really confused after the reading the first few pages and taking in the art. Everything seemed waaay different from what I expected. I chuckled at the reveal. You got me. Another Mike Norton mystery solved!
August 10, 2012 9:34 pm I was really on the fence going in to this issue. I ALMOST love it, but the pacing is a little slow for my taste. All along, I've felt the art was strong, but this issue left me shaking my head because of one panel. There's a point where a character fires a bullet. The bullet is shown in flight and it still has the jacket on it! Did anyone else catch this? I was shocked because of the level of detail they've tried to achieve in this title. I felt a little bad for Donaldson, because he probably spent a bit of time getting the bullet just right. Ultimately, after three issues, if you're still not sure you like it, why keep buying it?
