February 22, 2012 2:32 pm I suppose he might have been a philosopher - under the old definition; originally encompassing physics, astronomy, and biology. Is it really unlikely to see him as an academic philosopher (so to speak) and also a mechanic at home? "As science progressed we learned enough that it became impossible for one person to hold everything in their head" ... but we can trim this mass of data down into just what is necessary. The epistemic demands on Jor-El's mind can be reduced as long as he (1.) knows where to find out what he needs to know (reference chart, computer, calculations machinery); (2.) knows how to apply whatever principle/data he learns into the practical mechanical task.
February 13, 2012 4:35 pm My copy (and all the copies at my LCBS) were all screwy - pages repeated. Just wondering if it was whole print run, or just this batch. Anyone bother to read this issue and care?

February 11, 2012 8:34 pm Okay, read *most* of the comments. I guess whenever people start ranking and comparing and making these sorts of assessments (be it in comics, sports, or music), I kinda want to understand the criteria first. How can someone be "overrated" without anyone mentioning which criterion is being rated? Is it comic sales qua actual sales numbers? Is it some subjective aesthetic ideal? Is it value of salary? Is it who has more followers? It seems many would suggest that the fact that the person in question was a catalyst for change makes them great. However, how is change measured - and is all change good? If we're going to use the term pariah, it should be understood that these examples are outcasts... and, clearly, Moore is "outcast." (Self-inflicted outcast, maybe.) By the same token, I am not sure Loeb qualifies.

February 2, 2012 11:18 pm The Jae Lee "Ozy" cover.... I feel like Lee draws that similar cover a lot. (Cp. Namor (2010) #1 and Wolverine (2010) #1)

January 30, 2012 11:36 pm Thanks Ken. I agree "ongoing" is poor word in general, but contextually I see we all knew what I meant. I hope this is good, but I don't wanna raise my hopes only for disappointment. I'd comment more, but got distracted by the mention of coffee.......
