June 25, 2011 1:32 pm Paths of Glory is one of those films not enough people talk about. To me, it ranks up there with some of the finest films ever made, war or not.

Generation Kill is a great book, but I enjoyed the HBO mini-series even more.  It was a very faithful adaptation, and brought to life brilliantly.
June 23, 2011 10:17 am I think this is a good idea, I just wonder why there isn't an industry standard.
June 21, 2011 11:43 am @JAMESDEAN2020  - Haha. Don't keep holding your breath. IMAGE UNITED harkens back to the early days of Image in ways intended and unintended.
June 20, 2011 2:10 pm Are you guys reading GREEN WAKE? You should be!
June 17, 2011 12:57 pm @ccarney  - Where did you see it? Just curious. Conor's in NYC but not sure in which borough he saw it.

Speaking as someone who is probably close to John Q. Public for this movie (I don't read superhero comics, and I've never read or been inclinded to read Green Lantern), I have no interest in seeing this movie. The only thing that would drive me into theaters to see this is word of mouth...and so far it isn't good. That probably doesn't mean much for opening weekend, but I think it does when we see if this movie "has legs".

BTW, for those who have seen it, were the final effects better than in the trailer and the clips that have been released. B/c those looked terrible compared to what's out there these days.
June 10, 2011 1:07 pm @wallythegreenmonster  - I was in a suburban DM shop a little while ago. It was when the first TPB of Morning Glories was set to come out. When I asked the store owner if he was getting it in, it took him a moment before he even realized what book I was talking about, then said "No". He said he could order it for me, but that was all. Looking around at the shop, I realized it was pretty much nothing but mainstream fare from the Big 2. That was the first time I realized how indie unfriendly some shops can be, and finally drove home what I've been hearing. Living in Philly and the surrounding burbs I've taken a well-stocked store for granted.

June 9, 2011 2:54 pm @palemoondevil  - I'll bet the vast majority of it. For Marvel, I'm sure Spidey is #1.

I read once that Disney's #1 licensed charcter is...Winnie the Pooh (which came for an acquisition, to boot). It was b/c of all the Pooh licensing for newborns and infants.
June 8, 2011 4:59 pm Yep. Thanks for pointing out something far too many people in comics don't even realize. I don't have it on hand, but Marvel's last annual statement (2008, I think) clearly showed that licensing was where the money was coming from. The film business was close second, but at that point, a lot of the films were still outside Marvel Entertainment.
June 8, 2011 10:47 am @NawidA  - That list, and the fact that there are no new books on it, really does put things into perspective. Scary. If not for Vertigo, I would not have gotten back into comics. And they're not doing OGNs any more either. I do hope they have a strategy in place, and aren't just biding their time until the axe falls.
June 7, 2011 2:17 pm Great to hear that there's a plan for the actual end. I hate the way a certain TV show ended after starting out so good.
