June 20, 2021 4:47 pm Definitely got a True Grit feel from it with Rutheye being a young head strong girl trying to hire someone for a job. Really enjoyed the book and seeing where it goes. Mostly looking forward to Kara gabbing a definitive story that feels like her own thing.
January 27, 2020 2:04 pm Couldn't agree with y'alls assessment of the Superman and Wonder Woman books any more. A well told headache waiting to happen and WW who's losing direction as a series. 750 was my first issue of WW since just after Rucka's run ended and I found Orlando's story to be incredibly hard to follow and, as a result, completely uninteresting and a chore to get through. I enjoyed Rucka's story, but you guys are right. If Cheetah is going to end up always choosing the bad way, then let's step away from trying to save her. I like the Simone story with the little with flower powers and Snyder's story, but that's it. Fairly good looking book, but very disappointing as a showcase for the character.
November 10, 2015 1:13 pm Congrats on ten years, guys! I haven't listened since the beginning, but I have been listening since 2006 when I began reading comics and iFanboy and the Pick of the Week podcast is what helped me wade my way through the sea of comics and made them seem far less daunting a hobby in which to partake. My love and understanding of comics has a lot to do with you and your shows over the years. Thanks a bunch and here's to ten more years!
March 19, 2015 8:31 pm Wow, congrats guys! I won't be making it to Wonder Con, so here's hoping you guys get to release it as a pod! You guys always has such a great rapport with Darwyn Cooke and i never get tired of hearing that man talk about comics. I suppose it's also great to hear the original three back together!
September 7, 2014 2:21 pm I trade wait for a lot of Image books, I'm skipping all of the Future's End stuff, and I'm not reading any Marvel books at the moment, so this was the first week in a long time that I had no new books to read. I have Seconds, but haven't read it yet though I look forward to it, as I do listening to this weeks show. Should be fun for me!
August 18, 2014 3:00 pm Eh, I didn't fall head over heels in love with this like Ryan did, but I thought it was okay. Lots of odd choices made and, like you guys, I thought the score distracting and didn't mesh with the story too well, even though I get what they were going for with it. However, some of the team dynamics and The Joker were enough to keep me entertained enough throughout the film. I was glad to see different character designs, even if I've technically already seen them in the Arkham games, if it meant moving away from the New 52 inspired designs of the previous two movies. Having played the three Arkham games, I'd guess this took place shortly before Arkham Asylum. Also, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Bruce Timm is NOT returning to write/direct Justice League: Gods and Monsters. http://www.theouthousers.com/index.php/news/128529-dc-animated-movie-update-bruce-timm-not-directing-jla-gods-monsters-and-other-misinformation.html
July 9, 2014 2:47 pm On Bryan's question, I treat comics like I do movies. The individual issues are like going to the theater, trades and hard covers are DVDs, and deluxe, omnibus and absolute edition are blurays. If I like a book enough while it's "in theater" I'll buy the trade which, like a DVD, is nice way to have the collected story in a volume a can display on a shelf. If I really like a book I'll get the "bluray", which usually offers higher standard of production along with a slew of bonus materials. As for the issues, every few months I'll cull those books I know for a fact I'll never read again in issue format or have no plans on getting bound, then I'll either sell them or give them away, whether it be to friends, family, or charity This system a has worked out pretty well for me and with it, I was able to halve my number of long and short boxes.
June 15, 2014 7:59 pm Dragonheart, Josh. The movie with the scottish dragon was called Dragonheart. His name was Draco and was voiced by Sean Connery. I'm not ashamed that I didn't have to look any of this up.
May 25, 2014 3:14 pm Just left the movie, which I thought was great, and am glad I decided to go see it today because, to my delight, Ron's back for the podcast! I think I'm looking forward to this pod more than I was for the movie. Can't wait to listen!
February 18, 2014 8:54 pm "I-I, y'know... I have done things." I haven't had a hearty belly-laugh in a while so thanks for that, Conor!
