March 26, 2016 5:34 pm Now that is a hot pile of garbage!!
March 26, 2016 5:32 pm Semi-related: Any way you guys could copy the show notes in the iTunes feed? It's more of a bummer on the potw podcasts but it would be great to have the notes for the individual shows when you get them on the podcast app. I have only seen it once yet (full disclosure: I fell asleep for a bit) but I think the best description I have is an (over) ambitious disappointment. The studios want to rush it so it's getting rushed whether it's good or not. The writers and actors were up against a wall and they swung for the fences. I'm majorly with you guys on the tragedy of wasting Henry Cavill on this. It took me a while to accept Man of Steel as his modern origin but I do and am mostly okay with it (biggest and probably eternal gripe is Jonathan Kent). This however pretty much makes certain that we will never get the movie I hoped for after the MoS ending at the Planet. Lois romance, first Lex face off, first Batman interaction, actual reporting and trying to help humanity...pretty much never gonna happen. I also really liked DKR Affleck Batman. Old, bitter, brooding Batman was awesome, plus I loved the suit. Wonder Woman/Dianna was also great. With great versions of Batman and Wonder Woman and a perfectly casted Superman this should have been 100x better than what it was. Save the wontons!!
April 29, 2014 11:49 am I'd also second Daytripper. I also love the Long, Cold, Dark arc from Garth Ennis' Punisher MAX run.
December 27, 2013 11:57 am Also, I LOVED Frozen. It well deserves its superlative praise!
December 27, 2013 11:54 am Hey guys, finally got around to listening good stuff! I skipped The Wolverine due to my dislike of X3 and Origins but I shall be redboxing it when it comes out. Looking forward to catching The Lone Ranger too! It looked like lots of fun but I couldn't convince anyone to go with me and that looked like a fun one to share with others. The big one that I loved this year was Derek Cianfrance's The Place Beyond The Pines. I really enjoyed Blue Valentine but this one was even better for me. I've seen it 3 or 4 time and cried each time. Best father/son/legacy movie I've seen in a long time. For me the big tv surprise this year was Arrow. I skipped the first season cause the promos looked like they were targeting high school females but after a few episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (which I did not like) I went back and gave Arrow a try...absolutely blown away! The other sleeper show I found really interesting was Rectify, really good stuff. Book-wise I haven't finished it but I picked up S. (http://www.amazon.com/S-J-Abrams/dp/0316201642/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1388162907&sr=1-1&keywords=s+jj+abrams) on a whim at Barnes and Noble and it is really interesting. I actually thought of Paul when I picked it up. I think you guys would at least get a kick out of the way the story unfolds. And that Difficult Men book sounds excellent, added on Amazon!
November 16, 2013 10:14 pm Del Toro's speech actually reminded me of The Usual Suspects. He spoke much clearer obviously, but the meter and character that he spoke with made me go back to that.
September 4, 2013 4:28 pm Another great thing about iFanboy- interaction with creators! Gonna miss Scott and Kurtis Wiebe and others interacting with fans on their books.
September 4, 2013 4:18 pm I love Top 5 Right Now, seconded.
September 2, 2013 3:06 pm Sad news indeed but wishing you guys success as you move forward!! You guys have been a regular part of my week for the last several years and I am very glad I happened upon the site. I have loved listening to the podcasts, weekly and otherwise and wouldn't have found some wonderful comics if it wasn't for you guys (most notably, the Planet of the Apes books). Gonna miss the regular content and pull list but am grateful for the time I've had. Good luck, all!
August 30, 2013 8:21 am I absolutely adore Elektra! Frank Miller's Elektra stores are melodramatic pulp fiction at its best. His DD run, Assassin, and Elektra Lives Again are among my favorite titles that Marvel has ever published. Bendis' run was fun and Rucka's was very much a mixed bag. I'd also mention Zeb Wells' Elektra story post Secret Invasion (I think it was under the Dark Regin banner). It was a great modern Elektra story that set her up for a modern run that I would LOVE to read.
