May 12, 2012 4:59 pm Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it. I will do some research and see if/when the trades are out.
May 12, 2012 4:26 pm I have recently started buying comics books (been a superhero fan my whole life though) and this is the second time that I have picked up a series based on pick of the week. I am not a big X-Men fan, per se, but I really like this small covert, special ops type book. I like Wolverine when he is part of a team, I do not find the character to be very interesting when he is basically on his own, but I really like the Uncanny X-Force (I am a Deadpool fan, so that helps). I cannot wait for the next issue of this and I am going to try and find some of the back issues as well. One other little note, is it just me or does Wolverine in UXF kind of have a Batman look to him?
May 12, 2012 10:54 am Sequel? Yes. As much as I wanted to see more and would love a sequel right away, as they say "good things come to those who wait." In my opinion, Whedon understands the character AND the fan base. The Avengers was accessible to comic book fans and to those who have never seen a Marvel movie (my brother in law went to a midnight imax showing with me opening night and the only previous movie he had seen was Iron Man three years ago and he LOVED the Avengers. He quoted lines from the movies for days afterwards). Iron Man 2 could have been a better movie, but it was rushed because of the writers' strike (from what I have heard anyway) and I honestly feel that the next Avengers movie will benefit from having to wait for other movies to come out: IM3, T2, CA2, Hulk Smash (that should be the title in my opinion), and whatever else. Whedon probably has the next 2-3 years to work on the script and all the preliminary stuff before he even has the actors around. My guess is A2 comes out sometime in May 2016. One other note: I realize that this situation could be different (and maybe Thanos will be the villain) but the Iron Man after credits sequence didn't deal with Iron Man 2, but a separate franchise. Perhaps the Avengers is following that? Either way, we will probably have a better idea of where Marvel is headed after Iron Man 3 gets release next year. (Sorry for the long post...does anyone know where an iFanboy message board is, or is it all article related comments, I am new to the site...thanks!)
May 5, 2012 4:57 pm I think the Avengers did what NO other superhero movie has been able to do to date: show the true awesomeness of each hero's power. I felt like I was finally seeing a true superhero movie. Not that the other movies were not great (I think the Marvel studio movies are great), but it felt to me like I was finally seeing superheroes being super. Hulk stole the show, in my opinion.
May 4, 2012 1:07 pm I thought this movie did a great job of showing the actual fear that many characters have of the Hulk. Black Widow is a badass, but you could tell that the Hulk scared the hell out of her. How great was that slow motion shot of Thor doing an uppercut hammer swing to the Hulk? When Banner yelled at BW in Calcutta (?) and she drew the gun, it almost looked like she nearly pissed herself. I personally thought the acting of Scarlett Johanson was pretty good there.
May 4, 2012 5:20 am Do you mean besides taking charge and creating a plan of attack and fighting the Chitauri Army? Or do you mean after he got knocked out of the building? I hope these questions do not come across smart ass-y, I am just not exactly sure what you mean.
May 3, 2012 2:09 am I have been a super-hero fan most of my life and have, in the past, waited until the trade paperback to buy stories such as Civil War and the Crisis Trilogy. I have been listening to the iFanboy Podcast for several years, but have been one of those "I don't know where to start" people they have talked about occasionally on the show. When Avengers Vs. X-Men #1 was the Pick of the Week, I decided that would be a good spot to start getting comic books weekly (I have started reading New Avengers, Avenging Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man, among a couple of others). I am enjoying the AVX books, so far, but it's starting to feel, in my opinion, like Civil War Part II. Overall, though, I think it's worth my money.
