July 29, 2011 6:40 am Definitely appreciate the article, and Rebekah Issacs words. For my part, I know that if I was offered to draw a DC book of choice it would not be a ______Girl book. Since female leads usually have a spotty track record in quality, I grew up loving Nightwing and the Flash, and not caring for chicks like Supergirl because she just seemed to be shoddily added on to Superman's brand.

It's a deviating point, but self-identifying with a male or female lead, I think that crosses borders a lot. I love Peter Parker because I identify with him. So the idea that it's a self-perpetuating legacy (guy-to-guy) doesn't necessarily hold.

Overall, I see this as a business decision. A nice, safe, boring one. I'd have liked to have seen more adventurous titles announced by new blood (male or female). But I'll with hold judgement until Sept. 1.

July 19, 2011 9:21 pm Yaaaaay! I was hoping for more OGNs! So much easier to point and buy OGNs then try and walk newcomers through complex continuity. (That's with my librarian cap on).

December 23, 2010 8:05 am MY MOTHER just asked me about this. Apparently MSNBC just ran a story on this? This was a women who does not know who Stan Lee is, and she just asked me if I knew one of the FF was going to die in #587.

I'm still a little shocked.

My money is on Ben. They had the whole nice part in this arc about him getting to be a human for a week, so that feels like a death knell to me.

I've always loved the Human Torch, so I hope that it's not him.
