June 3, 2009 3:03 am Deadpool and Secret Six hold no appeal to me whatsoever, and these reviews did nothing to change that. I was planning on picking up the Lock and Key HC tomorrow, so great timing on that one.
May 13, 2009 4:17 am Nice one! I'm a big crime comic fan, but have never checked out the Geary murder ones, will add trhem to my list. Are yous excited for the Darwyn Cook Parker books? The preview pages look fantastic.
April 17, 2009 12:54 am I will put my vote in for Baker Street. I know there was a tribute to Guy Davis a while ago, but I'm not sure how many people have read the early punk rock, sherlock homes series he did. It's sadly not in print at the moment, but ibooks did a collection that should be reasonably easy to find. Or Mr. X. Also brilliant.

I'll be at ECCC, it will be nice to meet some of you! If Kells is near to the Hostel I am staying at, I can probably pop by for a bit.

March 10, 2009 6:58 pm Guy Davis is one of my absolute favorites. Baker Street was the first "Adult" comic I read when I was 15 and squatting in a punk house. I even did my hair like Sam for a few years. It makes me happy that he is getting more praise, although still not as much as I think he deserves! I really need to catch up on the BPRD stuff now...
January 15, 2009 7:10 pm @soniaharris I did get a copy a while ago (for under $25 even!) thank you though. And I have to agree, we do seem to be some fussy cats! I'm a book binder, so everytime I see less than perfect book construction it gets my blood up. I actually bought the Ivan Brunetti Schizo collection "Misery loves comedy" because it was a nice smythe sewn binding that was just gorgeous:)
January 15, 2009 6:27 pm I agree with just about everything said here! Heavy Liquid is a GREAT book. It was ridiculous that it was out of print and impossible to find for such a long time. Two (somewhat minor) complaints from me.

1.  $40 price point is too high for this book. I know it's a nice hardcover, and they redid the coloring...but still. If this had been $30, I would have been all over it immediately. Instead I had to wait for it to go on sale at my shop. $10 matters!

2.  They printed to close in to the gutter for my liking. There are pages where bits of dialog and art  are so far into the gutter of the page, that they are for all intents and purposes, unreadable. I have to pull and flatten the pages with both hands to get at those hidden little interiors, and that's not something I like to do on a book I already feel is a bit overpriced. Kirbys Eternals Omnibus from Marvel is the other really bad example of this I can think of off hand.

Neither of those are enough to ruin my enjoyment, but they do stain an otherwise excellent book.
January 8, 2009 11:07 pm Yes, Cages is great also! A lot more pencil and ink stuff than he is generally known for. It's nice to see. Some people I know have complained that the story is a bit light, but I disagree, I thought it was great all the way through! Sadly the complete thing only exists in a $50 HC and that has been out of print for a while now...
January 8, 2009 7:41 pm I was really happy when they reprinted this in the nice handsome hardcover. It kind of seems like the lost, or underexposed gaiman/Mckean book. So many people who come into my shop and are big fans of those two have never seen or heard of Signal to Noise. Probably didn't help that it was so hard to find for a while. It's such a gorgeous piece of work...good call!

@Soniaharris: I was definitely planning on checking out Isotope, I've heard way too many good things about the shop to miss it! Thanks for the heads up on the other places, my action figure display case thanks you:) I think I'll be in town for a week to ten days if anyone wants to go for coffee or show me your favorite places I'd be most appreciative.

@Daccampo: I plan on it;)
