As far as I can tell, event comics are supposed to be like rock albums. They’re big, flashy, noisy, and…

June 10, 2011 4:24 pm This seems like more of a true reboot, unless they're going in to the past to retell the origins. It'll be interesting to see if they rewrite the history of certain characters but then leave characters like Batman or Green Lantern relatively unchanged.
June 9, 2011 1:25 pm Another question I have is, if all the Wildstorm stuff is being brought into the DCU, should we expect more "dark and gritty" stories in the DCU?
June 9, 2011 1:15 pm I know we're supposedly still waiting for Morrison's Multiversity, but do you think there's a chance we'll get a New Gods or Fourth World book? If DC is willing to give Etrigan and OMAC their own titles, surely there's a chance.
June 8, 2011 11:05 am I'm glad to see Sterling Gates get a title. We haven't heard much from him lately and I think he's a guy that shows a lot of promise.

I just wish DC would bring in some fresh, new female writers. So far we've only got Gail Simone on one title...
June 7, 2011 11:43 am I think DC is also in desperate need of some female voices in their books. Gail Simone is the only woman in the current line up. Forget the next Kevin Smith. We need a Tina Fey of comics.
June 7, 2011 11:41 am Great article. I could also see Seth Meyers and Bill Hader working on a goofy title like Plastic Man (they're both self-avowed fans and Spider-man Short Halloween was fun). Seth Rogan is supposedly a comics guy too. I'd definitely check out something by him or, bet yet, Jason Segel.
June 6, 2011 3:01 pm Do we know if he's going to release an omnibus? I saw they've solicited a complete tpb collection, but I thought I heard awhile back that he's planning on doing a limited, signed hardcover collection.
February 2, 2011 10:51 am I have a coworker who constantly runs marathons and triathlons. His advice to first-timers is always, "Don't worry about your race time. You've beaten everyone who's never bothered to run a race." I think that can apply to creative endeavors as well. You're miles ahead of everyone who has never bothered to pick up a pen and do something.

To echo @wallythegreenmonster, what about a webcomic? I just started reading the first volume of Emitown and that book is proof that webcomics are a great way to break in to the industry.
January 31, 2011 12:57 pm I can understand their point of view and their frustration with the industry. The more I branch out and try creator owned work, the more I seem to enjoy my weekly books. However, I do think they overlook the creators that put a lot of love into their superhero books.

All that said, it really, REALLY bugs me when people use "rape" to refer to something other than actual rape. I strongly doubt that this video is the kind of thing that will win anyone over to their point of view.
January 11, 2011 12:29 pm Love the resolutions, Mike. Some friends and I were talking last night about simplifying our lives, and it seems like my comics reading/collecting could probably use that more than most aspects of my life. I'm trying to figure out ways to "read more and buy less," as Tom Katers put it, while also supporting the handful of creators whose work I really love and respect. I'm trying to be better about using the library or swap.com. I sell a lot of old stuff on the internet, but I'm trying to get better about donating some of the money instead of turning around and spending it all on new stuff. Mostly, in 2011 I just don't want to be a slave to my pile.
