February 16, 2012 11:50 am On that note, Maggie Siff would make for a terrific Wonder Woman.
February 16, 2012 11:44 am I love broken Golden Age Logic: literally the first woman outside Themyscira that WW comes into contact with also just so happens to be identical to her in every way.
February 10, 2012 2:06 pm I like her new cape personally, but I agree with the gist of what you're saying. The costume is just missing something, I think it's the gold gauntlets and boots, they could belong to any Image or Wildstorm heroine. Better to do away with them entirely. An all-white, short-sleeved one piece w/ gloves would make her cape the only source of color; forcing it to stand out and therefore giving it a much more "iconic" air.
February 10, 2012 1:41 pm or the PBW era, as I'm sure the omnibuses will be called.
February 10, 2012 1:41 pm Though with a belt, she'd look too much like Suprema from the old Supreme books.
February 10, 2012 1:33 pm The buildings are very art-deco, they look more like the original skyscrapers from the early to 20th century than the kind of buildings being built today. As for Batman's costume: the exaggerated ears, large and garish utility belt, and leather gloves w/ cuffs as opposed to the more familiar serated gauntlets recall the Golden Age Bob Kane design more than any other. I'll agree that his costume looks like a Jim Lee design from the 90s, but even so, it's 1990s Lee drawing the Golden Age Batman.
February 10, 2012 12:55 pm Or on the other hand, these could be the successors of the Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman that we know. I can't help but think that Earth-2 Superman is almost identical to JH Williams III's 'Son of Superman'.
February 10, 2012 12:45 pm What I really want to know is what time period the image is supposed to be set in. Batman's tux and the surrounding buildings look like they're straight from the Golden Age, which would make sense given that the original Earth-Two Trinity operated during that period. Does anyone have any word on this?
February 9, 2012 12:00 pm As a longtime Legion fan, I want nothing more than to start reading this title again. There's just something about Portela's style that puts me off though; his art isn't poor by any means, the level of detail in the facial expressions and backgrounds makes that clear, it's just not to my tastes. It's a little too static if that makes sense at all, as if the sound effects are on the page simply to let you know what's actually supposed to be moving in each panel.
January 26, 2012 11:52 am The Veitch run is really underrated, it's been nice to see that Snyder is taking notes as much from that run as from Alan Moore's. If anyone out there is interested, though, you should probably pick up the Moore run before you read Veitch's if you want to read the stories in order.
