May 30, 2019 9:40 pm Great episode, great book. You are right that it was amazing to read this when it was coming out. It was mind blowing. If you want one more taste of Frank Miller Daredevil at this point, check out Daredevil 219. Miller returned in the middle of Denny O'Neil's run for a one shot story in the months before this run. For me this is the real preview of what Miller could do with his writing. No Daredevil in costume and the story doesn't have anything to do with what was going on in the book, but the story telling and the writing are a clear preview of what he was capable of. This one issue is why I was so excited to read this run when it first came out. I had missed Miller's first run on Daredevil, but I read 219 and said I have got to read more of this...
February 7, 2013 9:32 am Leave Vader out. I really hope Vader isn't in everything. Having him in every story makes the universe feel awfully small and TV like. There is a whole universe they can play in. All they need for Han is Chewie and at some point Lando. All they need for Fett is a good story.
February 7, 2013 9:22 am Forgot, he doesn't need to change clothes either. Just hang out in S wear with a red robe on.
February 7, 2013 9:21 am Blogger. No set hours, occasional sanctimony is a feature not a flaw, and he can actually read and respond personally to every single comment...
January 10, 2013 3:24 pm Dick Sprang. Neal Adams a close second. I devoured Batman from the 30s to the 70s when I was a kid, before I could even buy individual issues -- I was too young for an allowance but I had a library card :)..
January 2, 2013 7:24 pm Wow. That sure came out of left field....
November 18, 2012 10:06 am That was great! One question, though. If it's a live band, is it still Karaoke? Isn't it just singing with a band? Which is, of course, much cooler than Karaoke...
October 11, 2012 8:52 pm And then Ollie shot his eye out. :)
October 11, 2012 8:01 am My big question as far as the plot goes is what happened on that Island? A lot more than in our standard GA origin, to say the least. Oliver not only learned how to shot a bow, he also: Picked up a lot of scar tissue and broken bones (none of which are evidently from the shipwreck itself) Learned martial arts Learned Russian Became much more observant Became a good pickpocket Had something to do with Deathstroke / a Deathstroke mask / ? May have picked up some buddhist training (?) Don't see how he could have done all of that on his own...
July 30, 2012 5:36 pm The big question is would any professional sports still be in business? Football could be fatal for non super players (baseball could be too -- 300 mile per hour balls will kill anyone normal they hit). If supers were banned, cheating would be rampant. Every football, baseball and basketball team would be trying to find players with "gifts" that were still acceptable under the rules. Every sport relies on some level of parity between the participants. The existence of more than a handful of non normals would change society in ways that comics really haven't explored too much. The assumption for 99% of the shared universes is that life is just like it is now, except with Spiderman...
