June 7, 2012 9:17 pm Jeph Loeb has a pretentious spelling for his first name and he is a dick for this boneheaded move. Really stupid.
June 3, 2012 6:51 pm @keith8198 Both of us can be right. James Robinson could have suggested it months ago that Alan Scott be rebooted as a gay man AND the DC Marketing could have seen this as an opportunity to grab media attention. That doesn't mean it was decided based solely on its possible publicity grabbing nature. It just means that that DC took advantage of such as decision's additional qualities.
June 2, 2012 11:59 pm I got Earth #2 and loved the first issue. I'm looking forward to the series. James Robinson is a top notched writer who has used the sexuality of his characters to informed them in a new or innovative way. In fact, james Robinson was the first writer to have a gay kiss occur in a DC book. It was 1998 during his run on Starman. He's not one to do something like this in response to Marvel or as a gimmick, but rather to give his character development creative approaches that take his stories in more imaginative directions. What I am interested in is his take on Dr. Midnight and Mr. Terrific. Let's give it a shot before we predict its demise, shall we?
May 24, 2012 12:26 pm Great!! Shade, Enchantress, Madame Xanadu and Mindwarp all needed to go. Give us Doctor Mist and Black Orchid any day.
May 7, 2012 11:36 pm @Josh, thanks for responding to my post. I appreciate your honesty and frankness about what you guys do. I'll continue to support you AND look elsewhere for the other things that I'm seeking.
May 7, 2012 10:32 am You guys made a great point about the response of mainstream media on comics as a news subject, but I think iFanboy has dropped the ball on filling in the gap between comic book sites and the mainstream. This site should be a more in-depth discussion of the field of comics - all types of comics - but rather than that, most of the "articles" are one or two line comments by someone on staff. There is no reporting per se, unless its a reposting of an article from somewhere else. That's not journalism no matter how many awards they give Huffington Post. What if Conor did an interesting story on why is Jeph Loeb canceling animations shows such as Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Spectacular Spider-Man for alternative Ultimate Spider-Man? What if Josh did a series of spotlights on smaller scale independent writers and artists that he loves and wanted to give some exposure? What if someone examined the very real issue of comic artists and their struggle to maintain a life while keeping a career in comics? Or someone discuss the nature of the digital comics push by looking at the way publishers are exploring innovative approaches to delivering a different digital experience. A few weeks ago, you guys had up an opinion piece describing iFanboy staff as comic journalists. Maybe if you tried some of these idea - or other investigative stories where research and interviewing was used - we wouldn't look to mainstream media for that type of reporting. I feel there is real potential here. I just wish someone else did.
May 7, 2012 8:45 am Conor, could iFanboy do an article on the state of comics-inspired animation? With rumors that Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes will be cancelled after the current season, and DC investing a great deal into DC Nation, I think there would be something worth reporting on for you guys.
May 7, 2012 8:29 am Yeah. That's what I was thinking when I heard it on Saturday. That would be interesting if they explored that world since we've never seen Rimbor depicted on TV. I really love this show. It's a very well written and drawn cartoon. I look forward to it every week. Maybe Jeff Loeb should look at it for some inspiration on what a good animated show and NOT cancel anymore good cartoons.
April 20, 2012 3:11 pm Conor, these are great panels!! You really did an excellent job of picking some very good art from this week.
April 12, 2012 1:58 pm This title - and Static Shock - are probably the most egregious examples of DC's failure to commit fully to promoting diverse characters to the top of the line. Both were never given a chance, were poorly written and poorly drawn. Storytelling in Mr. Terrific was pitiful. you took Michael Holt and made him completely uninterested. This book is a shame.
