I love you, evil Elongated Man.

BQ: ELECTRIC SIX "DANGER! HIGH VOLTAGE!" is the most hilarious music video of an immature nature.

September 10, 2009 9:51 am I sort of feel like you are all rascists..... I mean MAYHEM!
August 19, 2009 7:32 pm One of the great parts of the issues have been the essays written by Dysart about the history of the Ugandan conflict - are they reprinted in the trade?

I think hardcovers make great gifts for infrequent/non comics readers. They like to hold it, they like to read from it and they like to show it off on their coffee tables.

Like the Local hardcover. That thing is gorgeous. Go buy one to help out Ryan Kelly with his hospital bills.

@TheNextChampion I couldn't wait to read Blackest Night. I had a dream about how much I wanted to read it and it was the first thing I picked up. I loved it. The quality of art and the story thrusted blood to my penis until it exploded in a horrid shower of joy. When I finished it I wanted more, so I read it again. Even with that erecticle explosion, when I read Scalped I liked it more and I knew it was a better comic. The pacing, the tension, the character moments were all at the top of their game. Blackest Night gave me that pure, giddy comic book joy but Scalped made me think and care and dread. That is something powerful and, to me, is greater than that herion joy shot. This may not be the case for you and that's cool, nobody's opinion wins.

This is going to sound like I'm being a dick but I swear I'm just trying to look out for you (like pointing out spinach in one's teeth) but you've used the word "then" incorrectly twice. Checkity-check yourself before you wreckity-wreck a resume some day.

July 15, 2009 8:08 pm Blackest Night blew me away, but this was the kind of book that lingers, that you will get something new out of every time you read it. Unless one of my other books snatches the title away, this is going to be my Pick too.

It's funny that the opposite of what you are describing is starting to happen - TV shows that became financially unreasonable in their medium moved over to comics to complete the artistic vision for the creator while selling more books for publisher. Buffy and Pushing Daisies and god knows how many other shows are becoming comics in a roundabout way to achieve an artistic goal.

I'm in a book club at my workplace and some girl chose Watchme and it was a bit too much for the crowd. I would go with something like Acme Novelty Library #19 - completely self contained, quick enough and engaging enough to read twice, gripping art within an addictive design philosophy and it is only 10 bucks on Amazon.

Plus you can tell all of the dames that Chris Ware does work for This American Life and they can wet their knickers and agree to read it without complaint.

If you have a cerebral mystery loving group and like to pick all the meat off the bones of a book the comic adaptation of Paul Auster's City of Glass is one of the best comics ever made.

May 26, 2009 3:34 pm Was that some of 'The Fountain' in there too? Damn impressive work. They should make this movie solely based on the fact that it would be 100 times easier to find a good Hal Jordan than it would be to find a good Steve Rogers (unless Zombie Steve McQueen is available).
